Stayed here because it seemed like a good place and nothing else was available. No dorms were available when I arrived, so I took a private room w/ shared bath. One bed had a good firm mattress, the other felt like a hammock with springs. Just enough water to take a shower at night. However absolutely no water in the morning. Use your imagination what the bathrooms looked like. Still no staff around at 8 am to address the issue. No reply from the owner to an email as well. I am very much aware that resources can be tight, however other hostels and cafes I went by had no issue that morning when asked. Breakfast is included and was ok. Offered in a restaurant nearby run by the same owner. Asked him about the situation and a possible partial discount/refund (which I have never done before), he simply replied with an "absolutely not".||I can deal with unusual circumstances, however communication is key and it wasn't there. Owner seemed simply in over is head with managing a hostel and restaurant. A barely half full restaurant for breakfast should not stress you out.||The place has potential, though it needs knowledgeable and caring staff. Maybe your experience...
Read moreWe saw this place online and thought it sounded great 150Q for a private room with private bathroom and hot shower?! Sure! I wrote several emails to the owner, including making sure about the price, and only got half answers. When we showed up to check in we were told that the private is 200Q, the explanation was that they hadn't had time to update the website (while they where sitting there on their phone checking social media) we had to argue about it but ended up getting it for 150. |The water in the our private bathroom was turned off for most off the time. The showers where freezing cold. Even after addressing this issue with the owner, the situation didn't improve. |The staff was very unfriendly and unhelpful. I asked about where I could do yoga and where a good massage place would be, and the answer was I don't know, - with an I don't care attitude.|We asked if we could have some hot water to make our own tea, they told us "we don't have any facilities here and can't make hot water" even tho they had facilities and sold tea and coffee. Just overall very...
Read moreI have never written a bad online review before but felt compelled to advise people to choose somewhere else to stay in San Marcos. The first room we were taken to was leaking water around the Base of the toilet and the inside of the toilet bowl was visible soiled. We had to ask to be moved to another room. We paid extra for a room with bathroom/shower. The shower didn't work (unless the staff closed off several valves?!) and the toilet didn't flush. Fair enough, I understand water shortages, but when we asked for a basin to flush the toilet from the barrel of water we were told to "find one up nearby the other toilets in the garden". Bear in mind it was dark and we had just arrived.... anyway. We checked out the next day and when we mentioned these issues to the staff members we were told they were only here for three days and the owner is rarely available so they make do as best they can. It just seemed a bit grim and unloved. I would reccomend spending the extra 50Q and 50m walk up the road to Hotel Paco Real they...
