Hippopotamus Steakhouse — Restaurant in Paris

카운터 앞자리 줘서 바꿔달라니 계단 옆.. 사람들 다닐 때마나 쿵쿵 울림... 그 옆자리에 빈자린 서양 노부부 ... 에게 My family and I were starving after walking around Bercy Park so I went to this restaurant that is similar to Korean family restaurants. Every worker seemed to have a training. I am not sure that was why we waited a bit. Food I ordered( steak, ribs, mussels) were ok except mussels( overcooked and not relaxed..) The old couple next to my table ate the same menu... Mussels looked fresh and big^^* well... we ordered a small size but it was a dish size(I think) One more... they didn’t ask steak’s doneness.. we were hungry and didn’t recognize it, either! My family told me to leave this restaurant strongly but my reluctance annoyed them.

Ribs were good!

It was a busy restaurant. It was the first time to sit in a restaurant whose floor was bouncing when other people waked upstairs.

Hope you sit on the first floor or the window seats on the second floor. Or down below the first floor.

English is not useful here even they have an English menu....

Ahhh... one more.. french fries...

The food at Hippopotamus is always delicious, I know the food chain and I've been to other restaurants in which I had an amazing experience. This one in particular is bigger and it's obvious that they prioritize quantity over quality. We ordered beverages and my boyfriend's beer arrived immediately, while I had to wait for 20 minutes and ask to 3 different waiters for my wine. It even arrived after the food and that's not okay. The meat was good and we did not have to wait a lot, but then again we struggled to order the dessert because nobody would come even though we made clear our intention to order again. Both for my beverage and for the desserts, not a single apology. I am also a waitress and I understand how difficult it is to work in a big place, but one should always respect costumers. Moreover, the only precaution against Covid that was put in practice was asking us for the certificate, then the tables were crammed and we sat right next to a person that coughed for the whole time. Not even a meter distance. Sad because the food...

Sadly I was pretty disappointed of this restaurant. First of all the sanitary service was a mess and not up to the capacity of people in the place. I’m sorry to say that the service was terrible. Besides the bad and unfriendly attitude of the first waitress they messed up 3/4 orders we had with wrong or missing garnish and sauces. The fries for my burger for example arrived after noticing directly after we finished eating. I have to say it was impressive how fast the beverages were delivered. I would like to tell the opposite but the burger wasn’t impressive at all and even let me with a discomfort after eating. I was happy to have salt and pepper on the table to season my food myself. My friends had the entrecôte and it’s a plate I would recommend you.

For my opinion in this visit I had, the quality of the restaurant wasn’t up to the price or the reputation.
