My last visit there was not a good experience. Bad customer service and the food left much to be desired.
First off, the server left us waiting at the front without acknowledging us at all, for quite a while. Then when he came up to us he asked if we knew what we wanted. I hadnt even got a menu or was seated yet! I dont mind that it was busy, just at least be courteous and acknowledge us.
I had ordered the seafood pasta on a previous visit and it was great, but this last time when I had it, the sauce had no flavor AT ALL. I knew peviously when i had this dish, the sauce had the seafood flavor in the sauce. I told the waiter to ask the chef if they did something different this night because it was rather flavorless and he said he would. When I asked him again, he decided upon himself to say it was because I substituted the homemade tagliatelle pasta instead of the linguini and this is the reason that the sauce had no flavor. That makes no sense. He said the homemade pasta soaks up more sauce. Again, that makes no sense because if it soaked up the sauce, there would be flavor in the pasta... unless there was none to begin with! He could have also mentioned that when I ordered if that was truly the case.
They definitely dont follow the policy that the customer is always right. And no remedy offered. Not the kind of place where they want to make it right.
The only reason I give the 2 stars is that the bolognese was very good and there was a better staff and server on my 1st visit whom were great.
This last visit did not sit well with me so I probably wont be back and...
Read moreFound this unassuming place while walking the West End. It's name belies what is here....authentic Italian food! And, the food is AMAZING. Georgia greeted us and introduced us to the wonderful menu items for the day. This place was so outstanding, we actually ate there twice during our stay. I had the squid ink, lobster/cheese stuffed (rather large) tortellini with shrimp while one of my mates had a seafood linguini - perfect al dente pasta with tantalizing clams, mussels, squid and shrimp in a creamy, garlicy sauce. Both served with a crispy outside, tender inside slice of bread (so no sauce would go to waste). The second visit, we tried the deep fried pizza (almost like a cracker with still some chew), simply dressed with a red sauce and basil. Simple, but delicious, as was the fried ravioli. Other's with me had the eggplant parm, canelloni and lasagna...all scrumptious. Other than the charm and attentiveness of Georgia, the other nice surprise was the price. It was very reasonably priced and less than I would've expected. Next time I'm in Roatan, I'll be sure to...
Read moreI just enjoyed THE BEST VEGAN pizza in my life! Seriously! When I found out the chef is from Italy, it all made sense to me! I decided to order a cheeseless pizza even though they had Daiya vegan cheese on offer ( which is great but prefer mine cheeseless). The dough was like chewy focaccia , the tomato sauce was sweet and homemade and the combination of zucchini, eggplant, fresh basil, pineapple and caramelized onions was just stupendous! Honestly I can’t rave enough about it and highly recommend the pizza at The Drunken Sailor. I wish that I had taken a photo if its wonderful presentation but I was so in love with my pizza that I inhaled it before I even thought about taking a photo. I understand that the pasta is freshly made by the chef and is provably not vegan but who cares?! Everyone should come out to try the delicious homemade Italian inspired food which does serve meat, poultry and seafood for those who are interested. In my humble opinion, a must visit when in Roatan! You...
