The Shack — Restaurant in Roatán

I visited the The Shack because some friends recommended this joint. I went in with high hopes, ready to dive into some classic comfort food. I tried both the Western Burger and the Fried Jalapeño Nacho Cheese Burger, but unfortunately, they fell a bit short of my expectations. I’d have to rate the burgers a 2 out of 5. The buns were a bit too light and airy for my taste, and the patties, while cooked well, could have used a boost in the flavor department. However, it wasn't a total loss! The onion rings that came with the meal were a definite highlight. They were crispy and seasoned just right, making them a fantastic side (big fan of onion rings btw). While the burgers didn't quite hit the mark for me, I appreciate the effort and hope to see some delicious flavor upgrades in the future. The shack was the best barbecue food I have ever had! The restaurant was a very cute design using an old camper that they turned into a kitchen. There was outdoor seating that was well lit. The tables were clean and the staff was very friendly. I had the porky pina colada BBQ pork sandwich. The pork was fantastic and sandwiched between the pineapple and the bun. I had never tasted anything like it! The fries were also mouth watering with just the right amount of seasoning on them. I was able to try the items off my families platter and I will say that I LOVED the chicken with the sweet chili sauce on it. The sauce is also great to dip your fries in. My family talked about this place all the way back to the resort! We loved the food , atmosphere and you can't beat the price for what you get!! If you’re looking for some delicious American BBQ food to settle your stomach after all the baleadas with beans, cheese, egg, sour cream, and whatever else you put in yours, this place was the needle in the haystack, providing fun outdoor seating and DELICIOUS BBQ food!!! It might seem like a hole in the wall when pulling up to it, but give the food a try! They were very fast and the prices were so reasonable!! We selected this place as our last dinner on the island, but I wish we would have made it our first. We probably would have eaten here a couple times. I can’t believe there aren’t more reviews ranting and raving about the quality of food and the delicious items they serve.
