After a beautiful day in Budapest, we thought to end the day in the best way possible, going to 360 Bar. That was the worst involuntary idea of this good day ever.
We found a table with an amazing view and a chilly atmosphere. We then asked the waiter for a menu; he answered, "Yes, of course, but you have to order everything through the bar." Four barmen and two waiters—really?
We saw "sangria home-made 4650 HUF" on the menu, and after a week in Spain some days before, we chose to give it a try. That was another bad idea.
We went to the bar, ordered it, and the total price was 5210 HUF (see photo). When I saw 558 HUF more, I asked for an explanation. The barman who took the order said, "Service." I laughed and asked what "service," if I went directly to the bar to order and brought the bottle and glasses myself? He didn't answer.
He prepared the sangria (home-made…) in front of us. He took an empty bottle, put in two different syrups from two plastic bottles, some pieces of orange, just a sip of wine, and a lot of sparkling water. At that moment, I'm sure a Spanish person died. After the 558 HUF "service" and this shocking display, we took the bottles, glasses, and returned to our table, trying to enjoy the night by laughing about it.
We tried our "sangria home-made," and it was absolutely horrible; impossible to drink. The syrups he used tasted only of sugar, with no taste of alcohol at all—just sugar. We then went back to ask for an explanation and were treated like garbage.
He started behaving badly and answering us even worse. Then he went to another barman and started laughing at us, saying something in Hungarian. He started the conversation with "Sangria blah blah," and the other barman's answer was, "Psychopath blah blah," and they started laughing at us in front of everyone. They continued laughing at and looking at us, attracting the attention of all the other customers.
There were four of us at that moment, and the humiliation and shame we received from this barman were absolutely shameful and showed a lack of professionalism. In this embarrassing moment, instead of apologizing, he took a bottle of wine, poured less than half, added more sparkling water, and asked for our glasses back to put the rest in—all in a really bad way and in front of all the other customers. Everyone was shocked.
We chose not to start any quarrel or fight because we were tourists and our girlfriends were with us, but these men deserve absolutely nothing. The owner should do something to prevent this from happening again.
I will never come back to this place and invite everyone to do the same. It is a...
Read moreThis bar on the roof of the Alexandra bookshop eight floors above Andrássy út 39 offers nothing extraordinary in the way of libations (some craft beer, wine, lower-shelf cocktails), but the views – literally all around you – are out of this world. Come up here of an evening and you've done all the Budapest sightseeing you need to do.
t’s only a little bit easier to get up to this place. You’ll need to find the side entrance to the office block just to the right of the entrance to the Alexandra book store. From here you should take the elevator to T (roof) level, where you won’t need to take any more stairs (the place is wheelchair-friendly).
The roof is actually a six meter-wide zone around a “This is Sparta” pit which you can walk around. It can accommodate about as many people as the place on top of Gozsdu Court. They made sure to have a lot of green stuff too. Various plants grow stoically in aquariums on the tables and decoration grass is planted along the rims. Security guards make sure you don’t throw yourself over the railings.
Panorama: awesome. Nearly all of Budapest’s important sights are visible from here: the Citadella, the Basilica – with the Ferris wheel next to it –, the Fishermen’s Bastion, and so on. In the middle of the terrace you can see the bookstore way down below, which is also a great sight.
Company: a little bit older crowd in their thirties, often wearing a jacket or even a tie. But most of them are sipping their drinks in T-shirts.
Price: espresso HUF 360, a glass of fruit juice HUF 390, Mojito and other cocktails HUF 1600, a mug of beer from around HUF 600. Spirits start at HUF 900. So it’s cheaper than the Gozsdu Sky Terrace though at first glance I would have guessed this one would be...
Read moreIf you're looking for a rooftop bar with a stunning view, 360 bar in Budapest is definitely worth checking out. The panoramic view of the city is simply breathtaking, especially at sunset. The bar also has a great selection of drinks and cocktails to choose from, making it a popular spot for tourists and locals alike.
However, while the view and drinks are impressive, the overall atmosphere could use some improvement. The service can be slow and sometimes unfriendly, which can be a bit frustrating when trying to enjoy a night out. Additionally, the seating arrangements can be uncomfortable and cramped, making it difficult to fully relax and enjoy the experience.
That being said, one unique feature of 360 bar is its igloos, which offer a cozy and private space to enjoy the view and drinks with friends. This is definitely a standout aspect of the bar and worth considering when planning a visit.
Overall, while 360 bar has its strengths, there are some areas that could use improvement. With better service and more comfortable seating options, it could become an even more popular destination in Budapest.
If the owners take these suggestions to heart, it could really elevate the experience for visitors and encourage more repeat business. While I wouldn't necessarily rush back to 360 bar, I can see the potential and would recommend it to others looking for a unique rooftop experience with a...
