I don't recommend eating at this joke of a place took 1.5 hours to get my pizza and when it arrived it was bland, undercooked and barely any sauce or cheese over it. Staff were anything but helpful and they had the audacity to include a 25% service charge the cider ordered was so warm too. You could literally pick anywhere else and would have a more enjoyable experience. soured my visit here. Would give 0 stars if I could. Considering the owner gave a very salty response let's address a few things ."Perhaps they could have gone to a standing restaurant" If you told me that's how our service was going to be like, we would've absolutely taken a standing restaurant over you. "You're a primary school student, you obviously don't know how to calculate percentages, how did you calculate such a high service charge?! Perhaps you didn't knowingly confuse the amounts with the tax content?" You have 27 reviews also bashing your service charge this is nothing new to you it seems. "Everybody knows that Italian pizza (which is what we make here) is not the same as American pizza with ketchup and thick crust! If you want it, you can get it by the window at a street vendor." I know how Italian pizza is made and it certainly isn't supposed to taste undercooked "Nevertheless, our camera footage showed that they enjoyed our food and our pizzas." WE WERE LAUGHING AT HOW AWFUL YOUR SERVICE WAS AND HOW BASIC YOUR FOOD WAS AND STILL MESSED IT UP "Our "not-ready" waiters were at their tables 9X and serving." You messed up our orders constantly so obviously you will be at our table frequently? "We don't usually ice our cider in 5 degree stormy weather, as it is not customary and not how our guests ask for it." A heads up would've been great? Plus it was far from stormy outside. "Obviously, the guest requesting the appetizer and soup will get their main course later than their tablemate requesting just the main course." Your waiter asked us how we wanted it brought out and we said as soon as it's cooked. Plus you gave my brother his starter after you were already given out the rest of the mains. "Incidentally, from the time they booked their table by phone to the time they were here, it took less than an hour and a half. Straight up lies here folks. "It would have been a more pleasant experience if he had spared himself and others from bickering and bad moods. Fortunately, the good mood of the other guests and our staff could not be spoiled" these other guests were also in agreement with us that they wish they had picked...
Read moreI recently dined at Porto di Pest, and I must say, it was a disappointing experience from start to finish. Not only was the food below par, but the restaurant's dishonest business practices left a sour taste in my mouth.
First and foremost, let me address the issue that seems to be recurring in many other reviews: the undisclosed service charge. It is absolutely unacceptable that the restaurant bills an additional almost 20 percent service charge without informing their customers beforehand. Nowhere was this charge prominently displayed, neither in the menu nor at the entrance. It felt like a deceptive way to squeeze more money out of unsuspecting diners.
To make matters worse, the owner's unprofessional behavior in response to negative reviews is simply appalling. Instead of addressing the concerns raised by unhappy customers, the owner resorts to stalking their profiles and launching personal attacks. This kind of behavior is not only unbecoming of a business owner but also highly unprofessional and disrespectful.
As a customer, I expect transparency and professionalism from the establishment I choose to dine in. Unfortunately, Porto di Pest fails on both counts. It's disheartening to see such disregard for basic ethical standards in the hospitality industry.
I urge the owner of Porto di Pest to reflect upon their actions and reconsider their business practices. Instead of engaging in petty online feuds, it would be more constructive to listen to customer feedback and work towards improving the overall dining experience.
In conclusion, I cannot recommend Porto di Pest to anyone seeking a pleasant dining experience. Dishonesty, unprofessionalism, and an owner who lacks basic courtesy have marred what could have been a decent establishment. Save yourself the disappointment and choose another restaurant in Budapest that values its customers and respects their opinions.
Note: It's important to remember that online reviews should aim to be honest and constructive. While it's understandable to express dissatisfaction, it's generally not recommended to personally attack individuals or engage in a...
Read moreWent here twice and shouldn’t have. First meal we had the goulash and chicken paprikash, while quite expensive and service was not very good (we had to ask for cutlery for both courses), the flavours were very good which is why we returned a couple nights later, but we wish we hadn’t. The burger was a very thin patty on a huge thick bun that was just too much, ended up taking half of it off and eating it open-faced. The patty was also cooked very rare which I guess is just preference. The breaded pork looked thick but once cut revealed the thinnest piece of meat possible with a ridiculously thick and, more importantly, soggy and flavourless breading. They also brought the wrong side (which is extra cost, not included with the entree) but no one came to checkin on us so I didn’t send it back. Not to mention a sneaky service charge of almost 2,000 HUF which is only mentioned in very fine print on one of the back pages of the menu. Paid cash and they never brought our 600 HUF change. Overall underwhelmed. An overpriced establishment with very poor service. You can find much better places in the area.
Edit: the owners response to my and other customers low star reviews do not come off particularly well. Using personal details of others in your defence, comparing prices to very different establishments in my local area, while conveniently ignoring my complaints about poor customer service and other valid feedback is not what I would hope for. I understand inflation, we’re experiencing it worldwide, but I’m also an avid traveller and comments are made based on other experiences in...
