Bamba Marha Burger Bár #OKTOGON — Restaurant in Budapest

I was looking for a well priced convenient burger place, as I just have arrived in Budapest that night and I needed something quick to eat with not so much effort like you have in a normal restaurant.

I got what I wanted… This place serves excellent burgers, and the person who took the order spoke very good English, so it was very simple to order my food which is always a bonus in a foreign place where English is not the main language.

The food menus are in two languages which makes it easier to find what you desire.

I am not aware if you can choose the way your burger is cooked, as in some places you can have it medium rare etc, but I did not ask in this instance.

Just keep in mind that this place is kept in a fast food fashion when it comes to seating. You have to pick your own seats, order at the the till and then wait until something becomes free, as this place seems very busy in the evenings and it is not the biggest location. There is a communal table in the middle and some tables attached to the wall all around. So you will most likely be sitting next to a person you don't know, but the general vibe in that place made it worthwhile, and people in that area are super easy going and very pleasant.

The burger was excellent, the sauces on them were super nice, so I cannot say anything bad about the food. The sweet potato chips I ordered were super crispy and nicely seasoned, and definitely not soggy. The normal fries options seems to be nice as well, they looked chunky and also very crispy.

The burgers are priced around 1500 HUF to 2000 HUF which is very reasonable if you are used to places like London. It is obviously more money than Burger King, but not that much more to make you feel bad to be spending that much money on a burger. The quality of the food is obviously miles ahead. For those who want to be spending less, there is literally a Burger King right next to it ;), and is was conveniently empty as well... I wonder why :D

I am only leaving a review regarding service. The food here is great, but today I had a very negative interaction with a member of the team.

I ordered the same thing I always do, a Big Kahuna burger. When they brought out my order, they brought a different burger. I told the server it wasn’t what I ordered, but I was the right order number. I checked the receipt and they had rung up the wrong burger. Obviously, my mistake is not checking the receipt before leaving the register. However, I told the server that wasn’t what I asked for. He just stared at me blankly. He made no offer to make it again or anything. After an uncomfortable silence I said I would just eat it. He didn’t apologize or anything. Even if he didn’t make a new burger, he could have offered a slice of pineapple or BBQ sauce to doctor the burger I was given.

In addition to this, my friend had wanted a chicken burger, but they were out of stock. Nothing was posted about this. We might have chosen a different restaurant if we had known this ahead of time.

This experience really damaged my view of Bamba. Until now I’ve always had positive...

Disappointing taste and not a good value. The guy who took my order said the burgers are big, but he couldn't tell me how much they weigh. In reality the burger patty is medium sized and the meat does not fill the bun. I put a teaspoon on the patty so you can see it is not a lot of meat. The bun was not soft and fresh, it had the consistency of bread that is already a day or more old. There was not a lot of bacon, and it was drowned in some kind of sauce (see photo.) I paid for the better grade of meat, but could not tell a difference in taste. They don't serve regular ketchup, so if you want any other kind of sauce, like for your fries, you have to pay extra. There were not a lot of fries and some were burned on the ends. And they charged me over 5,000 ft for this little burger and a few overcooked fries. My recommendation is to look somewhere else. Even the franchise next door...
