As previously mentioned this supermarket in terms of layout and appearance is the closest to a British supermarket here in Budapest. I have enjoyed shopping here, spending in excessive of 40,000ft each week. That was up until today when I had the misfortune to buy 2 whole chickens which were a long way past their best. Having travelled home (25 minute drive) unpacked my shopping to discover the foul smelling chickens, I then had to turn round and take them back. When I politely and quietly told the butcher of the problem, there was no apology, just a look of complete disinterest, even though I was willing to take 2 other chickens. Upon arriving at the checkout where I was told the manager would be waiting to assist with any refund, I was instead dealt with by the rudest checkout assistant and the most aggressive security guard, leaving me feeling as though I had done something wrong ! At no time did I receive a smile or any kind of apology for the inconvenience let alone concern that they had sold something that was potentially extremely dangerous. I have no intention of returning and will instead use Szeg Camembert who know how to treat their customers. I would politely suggest that if buda gourmet wish to be considered a premium supermarket they begin to invest in training their staff in the art of...
Read moreFound this place by chance when searching online for a place to go for brunch. It’s conveniently located on the 17 tram line and found behind a nondescript facade.
Once inside, the decor is sleek and modern yet very warm and inviting. We were greeted promptly by the staff and shown to our table and settled in for the next couple of hours.
The brunch menu items were numerous and it was hard to find something we didn’t want to try. A nice selection of salads, hot and cold preparations, as well as a grill station where you could order a la minute. Treat yourself to the bottomless option for the house wine. I particularly enjoyed the red.
The deserts were also tasty and enjoyed with a nicely crafted latte macchiato.
This place is great for groups and has a very amusing kid’s menu. Don’t be intimidated by the multi level seating and the stairs. The paths are well lit and even my embattled knees were navigating them easily...although maybe the...
Read moreThis place has the best food for such a reasonable price, you won't believe what great deal you're getting. The price of the all you can eat buffet is, what you would normally pay for a plate in a normal mid range restaurant. It's called "gourmet" for a reason. The food is delicious, and not your average buffet food, but high end quality dishes which you would get in a gourmet restaurant. They have a great selection of appetizers, usually a choice of three soups, around ten main courses, a wide range of salads and desserts. There's also a grill, where you can have your choice of meat and vegetables grilled fresh. The range of food is ever changing, but you can be sure that you'll always find many of your liking. The staff is very friendly and professional. I highly...
