I've stayed in many places while travelling for work, and sadly this was one of the worst.
Firstly, we confirmed ahead of time that we would be arriving at 5pm. Got there, we were sent the code immediately to get past the various gates. Arrived at an empty reception. Asked the same person via text who sent us the code when they would arrive? No reply. Kept on messaging the number, eventually they said that they were on the way. They turned up 27 minutes later, no word of an apology, nothing. Not a warm welcome at all. Then we were told that we needed to walk 5 minutes to another building.
The other building really wasn't clean at all. It was a really poor quality "apartment". There was nowhere to sit, no sofa. The shower had no shower curtain so the floor was flooded every time you washed. The soundproofing was non existent, you could hear the people next door when they turned on a light switch. There was a big security light outside of our window that acted as a floodlight, meaning any time anyone walked by it, our room would be flooded in light, which made it hard to sleep. There was also mould in the apartment too. The heating didn't turn on for more than 30 minutes before it would turn off. None of the windows would open as well, they were permanently locked, which must be a health and safety violation. If there was a fire at the front door, there would literally be nowhere else to escape. Plus the guy at reception took a photo of our passports with his personal mobile phone, which is against data protection rules. The TV was very small and it was on the opposite size of the room to the bed, which was the only place to sit down in the room, so you'd be better off watching something on your phone. Plus the windows are all frosted, so while light comes through it, you don't have a view to anything outside of the room, which is very claustrophobic.
There are loads more things that I could say, but I have given it 2 stars as the location is very good, plus there is a jacuzzi bath. In truth it's not a great jacuzzi bath, but credit where it is due for...
Read moreFamily ran business. Contacted me before we arrived, directly by Whatapp, which was good because it meant I had a direct contact with someone, should I have needed it. We were in the studio apartment which is in a different block. Having read previous reviews about the noise from the lift, we needn't have worried as the studios aren't in the in building with the lift. It was a tad difficult to find our apartment initially, but that's probably more a language barrier. Once we found it and worked out which keys were for which door it was a doddle. The apartment was clean tidy, with TV (only English speaking channel CNN not that we watched any TV anyway) and a hob, fridge, microwave and washing machine in the kitchenette. The bathroom was massive and the jacuzzi bath was a nice touch. The room was really warm, and the hot water instant. WiFi provided too. This building is situated in a courtyard and there are rules about making a noise. That suited us to a tee as we had a 9year old with us some went back to the apartment after our day of exploration and dinner. Suited us perfectly as Budapest night life isn't really suitable for children. Staff were friendly and you can leave your cases at the reception either before or after check in, for free, which was really useful. I got sent a YouTube video on how to find the reception, which was easy to follow. It's not like a typical hotel, but we found it fabulous. A great experience and we'd highly recommend here for a family break. A quick note about Budapest itself, it's a lovely city with loads to do. The local transport is fantastic and I'd highly recommend spending some time getting to grips with it. A 24hr group pass was 3300HUF about £7.50 and gives 24 hrs access to all busses, trams, Metro and trolly busses. Excellent value and will enable you to get anywhere in the...
Read moreHi, first and foremost, the young people at the reception were excellent hosts especially Azalea and the blond girl from the morning( sorry love, I forgot your name), the rooms are clean and proper, Azelia washed our clothes with such care! there’s not breakfast but the coffee in the room was tops. Here goes the lows, the appearance of the hotel, from the sign outside, the door, corridor, and inside of the building give much to be desired. The hotel sign has graffiti, the big door is dirty as is the entrance in from of it,( a simple power wash should not cost much), the corridor after entering with security beeper is dark and lits up with movement but still is dark, the second door is old iron work and again have to use the same security measure to enter, then a set of stairs maybe 6 steps, and a dingy elevator the accommodates max 2 people tight with luggage, out at hotel floor and enter another door, then another door this one using security beeper as well, and finally you’re at the front desk where if is day or before 10 pm you have one of the young persons I previously mentioned, they were so nice and accommodating. Then on to the nice hallway and the room, again once inside it was nice, clean and comfortable. But there’s other people that live in the building and we had to considerate since one morning we left early and were shushed by the person besides our room. I gave three and a half stars for the attentive staff and the cleanliness. One star to aesthetics and outside because the photos are misleading , appearance and the hoops one had to got through to get inside. There’s no breakfast, some rooms have view to the museum but we had one that had patio...
