Pizzabar Pomo D'oro — Restaurant in Budapest

It’s been two weeks since we had this pizza during our trip to Budapest and we’re still thinking about it. We started with the Antipasti Mediterraneo then enjoyed a Salame Piccante Pinsa Romana and a Calabrese Padellino. These pizzas were probably the two best that we’ve ever had in our lives. The crusts were light and airy with the perfect bite of crispness, the sauces well balanced being neither too sweet nor too acidic, and the meats were high quality. We’d randomly selected this restaurant and couldn’t believe our good luck! We were surprised at how good the food was. We can’t recommend this place enough if you want an excellent pie in Budapest. There are other Pomo D’Oro restaurants that are sister establishments (e.g a trattoria and gelateria) that we hope to try one day.

Please request Patrick as your waiter. He took great care of us by anticipating our needs and preferences (such as bringing out amazing garlic oil and Calabrian pepper oil because we chose two spicier entree options), providing great conversation, and giving us helpful information about “I Ristoranti del’Buon Ricordo”, an association of some of the best Italian restaurants in Italy and in other parts of the world. This organization produces a guidebook that provides the names, locations, and useful summaries about these restaurants. Looking forward to coming back to Pizzabar Pomo D’Oro one day and to trying other restaurants in the Buon Ricordo...

📍Place: located in the the middle of the tourist area close to the basilica, one of the newest additions to the Pomo D'oro family. You can sit inside and outside as well, nice chilled atmosphere. 🍛 Food: we ordered two pinsas, one with ham and mascarpone, the other with spicy salami and tomato sauce. The pizzas cost around 6000 HUF, and they are made with high quality fresh ingredients, baked locally. To me I prefer a little more flavour and less crispy dough, but it's just a personal preference, they prepared it really well. We had some lemonade for 1690 HUF as well, it wasn't too fancy but big kudos for not making too sweet and felt natural. 👩🏻‍🍳 Service: our server was very cool and direct, a little bit too friendly for me, but polite and very flexible: we asked them to put ruccola only to one side of the pizza, but they rather brought it separately which was a better idea. If you reserve a table outside and expect to have a lovely time you will be greatly deceived. After being asked if we want to dine inside or outside, and we showed we have a reservation for outside, they said they dont have space outside. Makes sense. Get the hopes up then say you dont have any free space. Normal business can handle even overbooked lunches. Here the customer is not right even when the customer is right.
