A great museum that offers some great information about the history of Hungary and Budapest. I particularly loved the sections about space and liked how they also displayed what a typical Hungarian household would look like back during the war, including what they would eat and the packaging on the food. This place is also very interactive which is always so good for museums as it keeps people engaged. The interactive car that you can drive is very cool and I like how you can also take photos with filters on throughout and email them to yourself as a souvenir to keep free of charge. This place also offers a student discount which is really helpful for students like myself who are travelling on a budget. The museum also has toilets which were clean and well kept, as well as a small bar/restaurant at the front of the building. You can also store your bags and belongings in a locker free of charge before you enter which I found was a nice touch. If you are looking for good museums in Budapest, I highly...
Read moreBack to soviet time museum. Friendly staff, speaks good English, no waiting for tickets, free lockers which are also soviet, as are bathrooms and everything else. It was quite hot there so recommend leaving jackets in locker. Models of Soviet buildings contain memorabilias and videos about different aspects of life in a Soviet time. In living room you can watch program about interior design changes over time. Signs of floor indicate about what is each segment. In old Lada police car you can try driving simulation. In phonebooths you can listen soviet jokes in different languages. TVs play old adverts and programs. There is section about soviet achievements in astronautics. In Lenin's office is interactive table showing what soviet police was after. You can purchase various things from soviet time and eat in...
Read moreGreat experience seeing all the retro items. Plenty to see and lots of things to interact with. I really enjoyed having the chance to sit on an old motorcycle, sitting in a Police Lada, trying old video games and using old TV cameras in a makeshift studio. It was quiet when we visited and super quick to get a ticket. The collection of retro items is large and the way it has been laid out is fun and interesting. The humour explaining the exhibits is a really nice touch such as describing how soviet playgrounds are death traps or having soviet themed jokes play when you use one of the phones on the phone boxes. There weren't really any downsides to this experience and it provided a unique and quirky experience which is why I would highly recommend it to those that are interested in retro or soviet items...
