The food was absolutely delicious! From the moment I walked in, the waiter greeted me with a smile, and I immediately felt I had come to the right place. He helped me choose a dish and gave me great advice — I wanted something meaty, like a goulash, and he recommended the perfect option. I ended up having venison, which was amazing, and for dessert, I enjoyed a warm, heavenly apple pie.
The waiter also suggested a fantastic cocktail based on palinka, styled like an Aperol Spritz — it was incredible! A lovely touch was when he heard I was from Poland and said “Zdrowie” in Polish with a smile.
I recommend this place to anyone who values not only great food but also genuine, heartfelt service. Here, you don’t feel like just another customer who comes to eat and leave — the staff treat you individually, give you honest recommendations, and even make your drink exactly the way you like it.
The waiter was very kind and friendly, and at the end, he served me an excellent coffee, so I could fully enjoy my evening in Budapest. I’ll definitely come back — it’s one of those rare places where you truly feel well taken care of and warmly...
Read moreWe visited the restaurant in a good mood, but unfortunately the experience turned out to be disappointing. Although the dining room was almost empty, we were refused a corner table under the pretext that it was reserved — yet shortly after, another couple from the street was seated there.
We waited almost 50 minutes for our food, and sadly all three dishes were a letdown. The goose liver, usually our favorite dish in Hungary, was served with a burnt side that had been deliberately flipped over to hide it. The French fries arrived cold, and the apple pie, which was listed on the menu as warm, was not warm at all but cold.
Honestly, looking at the restaurant’s high rating, we can’t understand how this happened. It makes us wonder — are the reviews perhaps overly polished, or was it simply an exceptionally bad day for the chef? Either way, the overall impression was very...
Read moreFirst, Tulipano and Rokfort are the same restaurant, just different locations(same menu). We walked in and Tulipano was booked so they told us to go to Rokfort.
Food was good, the pork knuckle, duck legs and deer stew was ok. Didn’t try the goulash. Don’t go for the platter for two, it has some of the driest and most tasteless fried items. Frozen sections at Walmart taste better in an air fryer. (See photos from most eaten to least eaten)
Elderflower Lemonade is good. Local draft beer is meh.
Expect big portions (most of eastern EU).
If you come from the US, don’t expect good service at Rokfort, seems cold to tourists (maybe just the server).
Might be because there is a 13.5% service fee added on. Which I think is the...
