We (2 persons) went there about 10 pm on a weekday. The restaurant was half full. Some dude on the next table sat, ordered a few things and returned all of them including his coca cola while we waited around 15 minutes to have our order taken. We watched as we waited for 4 different waiters to go to him and nurse him like a child. Finally our order was taken. It was delicious, I cannot deny it. However, when we finished it was about 10:45 and I asked the waiter to serve us some desserts. He replied that it is getting late and "they have to move all the things inside as they are getting ready to close." I then said "okay, but aren't these desserts already prepared", but then he replied that "the kitchen is closed already"? It wasn't closed yet. Then I asked for some cocktails. He said that they are closing and no cocktails will be prepared. He said "but you can come back tomorrow to eat desserts and drink cocktails, okay?". That was the moment I realized that they are just trying to get rid of us, in order to finish work early. That is the thing I don't like in Hungarian restaurants, waiters don't work hard for the tip, because it is included as a service fee, but many restaurants don't give to the waiters directly, they just split it across all personnel. And this is how you can get such a horrible attitude from a waiter who obviously lied to us, just in order to finish his shift early. Now, we went to this restaurant specifically because it was supposed to work at later hours. Well, it was not the case. I paid my bill and left quickly, rather frustrated. This stupid person, the waiter, was with greyish hair, he was tall and covered In tattoos. If anyone from management is reading this, he should know who he is. Oh yeah, I couldn't come back the next day, as I had to leave Budapest, you know because of life and travel plans. So yeah. And btw, I've owned a real big restaurant, able to serve about 300 people and I know that the client always has a right to ask, and shouldn't get lied to for petty reasons like that. If he really wanted to be a great waiter, he could come early, and instead just ask the usual "is everything alright", he could remind us by saying something like "guys, the kitchen is closing soon, do you want any dessert, or maybe something to drink"?
Anyway, I couldn't come back even if I wanted to. It's just sad that I have to write this instead of sharing how awesome the food is. Because all of this I give...
Read more5-Star Review for Forni Di Napoli - Exceptional Service by Judit and Dani!
We recently dined at Forni Di Napoli, and it was an unforgettable experience, thanks to our incredible servers, Judit and Dani! From the moment we walked in, their warm smiles and genuine hospitality made us feel right at home. The atmosphere of the restaurant was charming, but it was their outstanding service that truly elevated our evening.
Judit was an absolute delight—attentive, knowledgeable, and full of enthusiasm. She recommended the perfect pizza pairings, guiding us through the menu with a passion for the food that was contagious. Her suggestions, especially the classic Margherita with its perfectly charred crust, were spot-on and made our meal unforgettable. She checked in just the right amount, ensuring our glasses were filled and every need was met without ever being intrusive.
Dani was equally fantastic, bringing a vibrant energy to the table. His quick wit and friendly banter added a fun vibe to the night, making us feel like we were dining with friends. He seamlessly handled our group’s requests, from customizing a pizza for a dietary restriction to ensuring our kids were happy with their meals. His attention to detail was impeccable, and he even surprised us with a little dessert recommendation that was the perfect end to the meal.
The pizzas at Forni Di Napoli were divine—fresh ingredients, authentic flavors, and that wood-fired perfection—but Judit and Dani’s exceptional service made the experience truly special. They went above and beyond, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that we’ll remember for years to come. We can’t wait to return to Forni Di Napoli, and we’ll be asking for Judit and Dani by name! Highly recommend this gem of a restaurant for anyone craving incredible pizza and top-notch service. Thank you, Judit and Dani, for making our night out...
Read moreThe restaurant had a lively atmosphere, plenty of people sat both inside and outside and chatting. The front of house was initially nice but then after we sat down, they (along with other staff) seemed disinterested. We had to ask 5 times for them to come and collect our order as we were ready. It wasn't that they were busy either, they were stood around - one person even saw yet failed to acknowledge.
The food was alright - not the best. I ordered a pizza, the dough in the middle was soggy and the crust was thick but not very airy, hardly Neapolitan. The ingredients weren't crazy, they tasted good but nothing to shout about. I ordered a passion fruit lemonade which was nice, a good balance of flavour and fizz.
The seating was nice, the general area was well kept and maintained. I must applaud their speed on delivering food. Once they took the order, they were very quick to service, from ordering I would say it took no more than 5 minutes to receive our food.
The pricing is fair, in line with other restaurants you find in the area. They also offered a good range of dishes with varying prices.
When it came to paying, the receipt already had a service charge which we were fine with paying but then when it came to actually pay, the person who gave us the bill, then opted us for additional voluntary service charge, further adding to the price. Unfortunately, I didn't catch on to this until we left. I would not come back again.
TLDR: Food wasn't amazing, service was alright, added further service charge that what was on...
