We stayed in Marmara for four nights. The biggest pros of the hotel were the lovely staff working the front desk and the bar. They were always very helpful and friendly. We lost our room card and they replaced it with no problem. Our room card also stopped working a few times and they replaced it quickly and efficiently.
Location as well is amazing- many things are either within walking distance or else the tram or bus stops are really close. Lots of restaurants, cafes and shops in the area too. Hotel itself is situated on a quiet street right off the main road.
The room was very clean, spacious and had a fridge and safe. Bed was comfortable and shower was always hot with good water pressure.
At night the hotel was quiet and bar was open until 11pm.
The biggest letdown of the hotel was the breakfast- we were glad we only purchased it for one day and not our entire stay. It was 18 euro per person which is the most we ever spent for hotel breakfast. We arrived a little after 9am and there was no clean plates available, no cutlery on the tables or trays of cutlery for you to take as I've seen in other hotels (we had to eat out of cereal bowls and take cutlery from one of the few tables left with cutlery on them). The tables and floors were dirty. The food itself was nothing special- scrambled eggs, some sausages, pancakes and beans. When we got there, there were no pancakes but thankfully were restocked as we got our coffees. However, there was no Nutella and it was never restocked. There was also very little fresh bread. The fresh vegetables looked dried out and unpleasant. For 18 euro I had much higher expectations and it certainly felt like a rip-off.
The walls of the hotel are really thin, you often hear people in the rooms around you and as they walk down the hallway. Our room was on the inside of the hotel (not facing street) but it meant our window was facing the breakfast hall so in the mornings (from 7am) you can hear the scraping of chairs as people get up and down to get their food. Housekeeping ladies also talk very loudly as they clean the rooms in the morning and may disturb if you like to sleep in during holidays as we do.
Thankfully during the night noises were not a problem.
Overall, Marmara is a great hotel let down largely by the breakfast buffet and the noise levels within the hotel in the early morning and during the day. We enjoyed our short stay of four nights, but probably will look at other options if we ever return...

Honestly, I’ve had a much better night’s sleep in a Premier Inn than in this supposed 4-star hotel.||We stayed for a week. Check-in went smoothly, and the gentleman at the desk was polite and welcoming. However, some feedback: don’t keep guests too long at the counter. After a long day of travel, especially arriving late at night, people just want their room key and to rest. Tired guests aren’t in the mood for long conversations.||I also mentioned that I’ve been coming to Budapest for the past eight years, yet I was still offered brochures I didn’t need. Listening more carefully to guests would be a big improvement, but overall, the check-in was fine.||The room itself was a good size, but after the first night it became unbearably hot. The air conditioning didn’t work—it just clicked repeatedly. Leaving the balcony door open wasn’t much help either, as it only let in amplified echoes and constant noise, making it very difficult to sleep.||The bed was another disappointment. I’ve stayed in many hotels, and this one left me with back pain after the very first night, which only worsened as the week went on.||For me, working WiFi is essential, but it was practically nonexistent. The signal was weak, constantly dropping to one bar before disconnecting. Even when it seemed stable, it would cut out again, which was extremely frustrating. My partner called reception, and although they promised to reset the router, it made no difference. To make matters worse, the TV depended on the internet, so it didn’t work either—leaving us with only five unreliable channels.||Altogether, the lack of WiFi, no functioning AC, constant noise from the open balcony door, and an uncomfortable bed made for a very poor experience.||The bathroom was outdated as well. The shower head felt more like something from a gym than a hotel, the toilet had very little water pressure, the shower handle on the wall was loose, the toilet seat wobbled, the air vent was dusty, and again—no AC.||Breakfast was buffet style, but after trying it twice, we decided it wasn’t worth going back.||Overall, this hotel really highlights the value of spending a little more for quality. Comfort—especially being able to sleep well—is...

I stayed at Marmara Hotel Budapest for 5 days. In that time, there were multiple unpleasant surprises to do with room condition, hygiene, management and service.
First of all, you should be aware that they ask for a security deposit at check-in without ever having mentioned that before when booking. The security deposit was 100€ that I have yet to receive back. Contacting customer service resulted in a bad-quality picture of what is allegedly a receipt of it being transferred back to me and they suggested I try my bank. The main issue, however, was the condition of the hotel room and the lack of support or compensation. The window was broken, there were ants in the room, there were some fun details like a wonky toilet seat and the fact that the toilet spilled a bit of water onto the floor when you flushed, and I was unable to get into the room on multiple occasions. There were some token efforts to help with window and door (though that was mostly solved by trying again until it worked with different key cards). The window only got sort of fixed, which meant the room was hot and extremely loud. I informed the reception of every single incident but they probably did not escalate the information to their higher-ups – when I called about the complaints later, the customer service told me they had never received any complaints from me ("If only we had known you had these issues..." etc. They knew.). They offered me 30% off on my next stay in compensation, which is outrageous because 1) naturally I’m not going to be staying there again and 2) you get 20% off on your next stay by default when you check out. So that’s 10% off on another stay in a loud room with some ants for company. Thank you for trying, I guess?
Overall: Rooms in bad condition, staff only marginally helpful, management actively unhelpful, compensation laughable, and I am one hundred euros short still. I cannot in good conscience recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good trip to the city. Budapest is much too beautiful to waste your trip fighting people over...
