The member of staff (older, blonde, Icelandic) was so rude it left me feeling shaken. The cafe opened up 10 minutes late and I didn’t want to rush the staff by waiting outside so my toddler and I walked around the block. When we got in I misunderstood when they were talking to another customer so I responded and got a sharp ‘I wasn’t talking to you’. I then tried to order in Icelandic and was just met with rudeness, I had to repeat myself many times. The member of staff sighed loudly and rolled her eyes after I ordered each item. She later berated me (in Icelandic!) because my two year old was sitting in a chair and not a high chair. I told her that she hadn’t wanted to sit in the high chair (I had returned it so it didn’t take up space), no one was using the chair she was sat in and there were plenty of other empty chairs. The staff member said it didn’t matter as the chair ‘belonged’ to another table, that my child should be in an high chair and continued to glare at us for the entirety of our visit. All the tourists who left received a goodbye and ‘thank you for visiting’, but we were ignored. My toddler was well behaved, watching the cats and other the children playing with them. Other customers were telling me how cute she was and smiling at her etc. I can’t tell if this lady hates well behaved toddlers or if it’s because I’m a foreigner living in Iceland. We used to live nearby and visited fairly frequently without any issues but then I was always with my Icelandic partner. It was such a...

The cats are miserable!

The first cat i noticed was lying on a seating bench and looked as if it was in a bad mood already. A small kid approached him and very gently pet him on the back, to which the cat responded by swatting him aggresively and the kid ran away crying. The second cat was being held by a woman. He clearly wanted to get a way but the woman kept a tight grip on him. She grabbed a piece of kibble from a nearby bowl and tried to put it in the cats mouth and then had her kid do the same. At this point I told her she was not supposed to hold the cat and she let it go. The staff had just walked past this and said nothing. The cat ran off, jumped up on the service counter, walked over all the domes protecting the cakes and was clearly trying to find a place where he would not be harassed. The third cat I encountered as I was leaving. There is a fence at the entrance to stop the cats from leaving. This cat sat at the fence waiting for someone to open it so he could run out. I put my hand down to gently nudge him away from the fence but he threatened to bite me. In hindsight, I wish I had let it escape. Give it a moments respite from this place. It seems like these cats boundaries have been crossed so much that the only recourse left to protect themselves is to be aggresive from the get go. This all happened in about 5 minutes. At 11:20. The cats were miserable after only one hour of the place being open and would have to endure this for 6 more hours.

This did not meet my expectations at all. Looks cute from outside. But in reality it was chaotic, maybe I was there the busy hours but by looking at other comments I don’t think the busyness is the problem in this case. The whole business idea totally relies on the cats.

Me (15) and my little sister (9) went there and got a table. When we started to order the staff just moved our things to make room for a diffrent group and placed us in a narrow corner. And just hissed at us when I questioned it.

Fast forward ordering I was very sceptical with what to order cause I have short of money due to Christmas. I asked the staff if I could replace Avocado - cheddar sandwich with mozzarella cause it was possible in previous orders. But no the sandwiches were premade and it couldn’t change. And also he asured me mozzarella and cheddar tasted the exact same? Despite being premade the order took around 15 minutes to arrive, guests who came in after me and ordered the same thing was getting there food before me.

The cheddar absolutely took over the taste and didnt at all taste like mozzarella as the staff told me. My sister bought a canned soda and was happy. In spite of the price the sandwich was extremely small. But I couldn’t finish. I later on asked the staff about it and he admitted that he knew all way long that the cheddar and the mozzarella had extremely different taste and that he was just trying to make me buy it. I’m dissatisfied with the service, food...

Met three cats here with my partner (Batman, Moá, Luna), who were all extremely sweet. Batman and Moá loved cuddles and scratches from us, and Luna enjoyed a small cheek scratch before walking away for some kibble. Unfortunately some of the guests did not respect boundaries, which was rather sad to see, but that comes as no fault to the café, who made rules very clear about supervising children and not grabbing cats against their will. Sometimes seeing this makes me lose a bit of faith in humanity, but that’s neither here nor there. Besides that, food and drinks were lovely. The servers were very kind and explained the different cakes to me, and also spoke fantastic english. Lovely experience - would definitely recommend to any and all cat lovers visiting Iceland!
