This place is amazing! My partner and I were in Reykjavik shortly after the borders reopened for COVID vaccinated travelers (Thanks Iceland for letting us in!) We were hungry for breakfast and spotted this little shop. The owner Raphaela greeted us warmly and made the best - the best! - savory crepes we've ever had. While she worked she shared with us stories about her childhood in Iceland, her deep love for the country, and gave us tips on some places to see. The crepes here are crafted individually and made fresh. Given tourism is still barely operating, there were very few people in town and I'm guessing when things are busier you might wait a few minutes to get your order - but your patience will be well rewarded. Five stars for Eldur og Is. We will be back!

We met the owner. He said the name means fire and ice. we loved the spot on repeated days for breakfast. They sold crepes different than we had in the states. you pick your toppings, and they make the crepes with a friendly twist. ❤️ I also had something called golden milk as well. It felt medicinal for me it had tumeric in it. The owner and staff are incredibly intuned with the visitors in his establishment. They offered premier service. He was speaking with some travelers from spain in their language when we arrived and he literally changed the playlist right there to some nostalgic music from Spain for them. Everyone was singing along. You will find this wonderful breakfast spot right at the end of the rainbow in Reykjavik. ; )

My family LOVES ice cream and crepes, so put them together and you have a favorite dessert place. We found this on our vacation in Reykavik, on the road to the Church Of Hallgrímur, Reykjavik. You will find this nicely tucked in on the road that stretches right up to Leif Erikson monument in front of Reykjavik church, Iceland. The crepes are made to order and you may have a long wait as this is a favorite spot for many. Have someone in your party grab a table while someone else orders. And don't just get the waffle ice cream cone. Be sure to get crepes, cones and more! We went everyday we were there!

During our visit to Eldur og Ís, I asked multiple times for a vegan (dairy-free) option for my daughter, who has lactose intolerance, is vegan, and autistic with limited communication skills. Unfortunately, she was served dairy ice cream, which made her unwell quickly and sick for the rest of the day, including during our return flight home.

When I raised this with staff, I was surprised by the response, particularly the lack of gravitas when I calmly mentioned escalating the matter to the food safety regulator. This raises important concerns about allergen awareness and food preparation processes.

Food allergies and intolerances are serious, and there have been multiple instances globally where failure to follow proper food safety procedures has resulted in fatalities. It is essential that businesses take all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of people with dietary restrictions.

Having since seen other reviews mentioning similar experiences, I would encourage those with allergies or dietary requirements to...

Awful customer service. I asked for a simple vegan crepe with dark chocolate & caramel. After waiting for over 30 minutes, my order was not ready. I inquired about this, to which the staff readily responded that 'they were busy', as if I could not tell. Clearly they were busy, but even no.6's order was ready even though I was no.4 & mine was nowhere to be seen. It seems like instead of accepting responsibility for their indolence & apologising, that they just wanted to divert the blame on the circumstances. They later said that it took long because 'they needed to make a new batch of vegan dough'. Why were their materials not ready beforehand. They boldly advertise 'vegan & gluten free options available' on a poster outside their shop, but it would appear that this is just pandering to a minority demographic instead of describing actual events. They charged 5 krons extra for my order & never even bothered to tell me that it would be late. Much disappointed, will not...

I ordered a vegan apple and caramel crepe....while waiting, the server came to tell me they were out of sweet potatoes. I explained it was not my order. It actually bonged to the lady that ordered before me. The server went back behind the counter and never informed the correct customer. Then comes my crepe. The same server also tried to leave the crepe with the missing sweet potato....again I explain it is not mine. No is no....it translates. So, my crepe, is not light and fluffy, but a room temperature chewy glob of gross. I had to unfold to verify that there were actually apples inside ......only a very few thinly sliced bits. Could not even taste apple. And the caramel was thin and tasted nothing like caramel. On a nutshell, don't waste your 18 bucks for this horrible food. I...
