We decided to have lunch there because of the high score and I must say we felt a bit disappointed. The quality of the food is not worth it's price. Quite expensive, even for Reykjavik, very few options and the food (I ordered the butter chicken) was kind of sour (like weirdly sour, not in a good sense) and greasy. My partner ordered the chicken masala and he also said it was kind of oily and not really flavourful. I think the only thing I actually enjoyed was the naan bread. I love curry and therefore I've been to many Indian restaurants, but I think this one would be definitely on my bottom 5.
Edit (to reply to the owner's comment): We went this afternoon (like 13pm more or less) and dined in. We didn't say anything there, we just thought that your curry was supposed to be like that so there was no point in asking for a change. Maybe we should have. Oh and we didn't know about the extra refill, but anyway... I don't think I would have asked for it, honestly, except for the naan. Your naan was really tasty, I really liked it. I'm sorry about the bad review, it's just my opinion. Maybe today was not your day or maybe I was not ready for that kind of taste. I might try it again if I come back to Reykjavik to see if it's better. Thank you very much....
Read moreDo not recommend. Did not get what I ordered and the staff lied repeatedly about it and was rude. I ordered the Chole masala chickpea dish but what I got was some kidney beans dish. The waiter was rude and lied twice to me when I pointed it out when I got the food. When it was time to pay I looked at the menu and it said chickpea, I pointed it out again to him, and told him I did not like that he lied to me, than another staff member comes and start’s to make up couple of different ridiculous excuses which are obviously lies, like the kidneybean dish was only today and I don’t need to worry about it. Why would he not had told me that when I ordered the chickpea dish? I again tell them it had not been a problem had they told me that they did not have chickpeas but being lied to again and again was not okay. She offers me a discount and I get 5% discount… that’s just rude, for a meal I did not even order. This was really bad and...
Read moreI was at Mama Rama on 28th October 2022 for the dinner with my Swedish friend. Jonas and me are right combination to try out both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food from the restaurant.
As a pro-meat guy, I have ordered the controversial (bcoz Brits own it as if they had invented it) Butter chicken at 'Kill me' spicy level. I have thoroughly enjoyed BC with Naan & Rice and trust me, I am a hard nut to crack when it comes to my choosiness and high-end palette to authentic, tasty, traditional & spicy food. Arjun did 200 % job to pamper my foodie soul. He is truly a Food Viking from Indland (well, he got that lineage as Rajput and as food lover).
The Naan itself is unique in a way that how it is sourced and made and I have no hindrance to say that it is the King of all Naans in Iceland, I bet and you loose!.
Finally, it is not at all on 'Kill Bill' scale , meaning to say that it is very reasonably affordable Indian...
