Best pub I went into in Reykjavik. Happy hour until 8pm at under £6 a pint and then up to circa £8.50 at standard prices, so not too shabby for the City This is a local’s bar unlike pretty much anywhere else you’ll find in central. Not a problem, as everyone speaks English, so you get to delve into the local personas. The pretty ginger bar girl expressed an edgy outward personality but was actually quite sweet. She owned the bar area and helped glue together the disparate Lost Boys I encountered sat on the bar stools. It created a familial feel that the background music helped keep steady. Would like to have stayed longer to see how these characters developed but alas, it was my last night. Maybe I’ll return to figure out what happened to this Icelandic “Cheers set” one day…in any case a fun night and one I’d recommend to others if they have a few hours to spare to soak in the atmosphere, because more than anything, that is what this pub has to offer. It’s the crystallisation of the local pub experience,...
Read moreMy husband and I have been here twice so far and plan to spend our last time in Reykjavik here. It's incredibly comfortable and has the most affordable coffee in town.
When we first arrived in Reykjavik we had to wait a long time to get into our apartment - and we had had 0 sleep on the flight in. Going on 24 hours with no sleep I fell asleep at the table over my coffee (roughly 3 dollars for a coffee and refill). They didn't say anything (which was really really nice of them), and we liked the place so much we came back a day or two later to do work and have dinner. The food is generous in portion size and they serve breakfast all day. It's also one of the cheaper places around, and all the servers are friendly. If you're like us, you also look for outlets so you can get work done - they have outlets, especially upstairs.
We'd 100% recommend this place, it's really worth a visit, especially if you're tired or need a casual...
Read moreWent for breakfast and the food was very good. I had the steak and eggs and my husband had the Snoop Dog burger. The server was friendly, HOWEVER, check your receipt for accuracy before paying. She charged us 2700isk for each of our drinks that were supposed to be 2200. While it definitely could have been a mistake, I am not sure that it was because when she brought the bill, she didn't hand it to me. She put it on the table and immediately put the credit card machine on top of the bill and just told me the total. I paid for it and looked at the bill after she walked off. She did make it right when I brought it to her attention though so I am thankful for that. Again, it COULD have been a mistake and I hate to accuse anyone of something they didn't intend to do, but at the end of the day, just make sure to go over your bill prior to paying. Overall, it was a nice little bar/cafe...
