Atmosphere, service and staff - great, it’s been easy, nice and light to communicate with them, girl also gave me great advices - appreciated. Meat stew with rye bread/butter is recommended since it has most Icelandic soul (as i’ve been told) and stew was really tender and rich with flavor. vegetables and meat were melting on my tongue. recommend it with beer. A bit sad thing about other delicious meal was small portion size. all else was good. Third one was “Lokis Death” which was fermented shark pieces with shots of “Brennivin”. meat didn’t had any smell, and first couple of seconds you don’t feel the taste either, but after the specific taste comes which you quickly shut down with shots of alcohol, haha. it was nice experience.

This is a taproom located in the basement of the old Corner Store at the intersection of Laugavegur and Rainbow streets in the city centre of Reykjavik. There is indoor seating as well as outdoor tables out back behind the building accessible on Rainbow Street. Opening hours are 12pm to 11 daily.

Ægir offers a good selection of draught beers along with a few wines and menu of traditional Icelandic dishes. We popped in for a rest break recently and were served up a good Ægir lager and glass of white. Service was very friendly behind the bar, prices reasonable, seating comfortable, a good opportunity to get off our feet after pounding the pavement sightseeing on the day. Overall, Ægir is a fun little taproom to try in Reykjavik. Would be happy to visit...

Located at one of the touristic hotspots in the city, we were surprised to see a nearly empty place. We even asked if it was open. And then we spent the whole evening there, having dinner, wonderful beers and listened to live music. They serve a lot of different beers from their home brewery but also from partner breweries. Very tasty and a selection which has something for everyone. The food was very good, we ordered from the Indian restaurant next door which was brought to our table. Nice and something we never experienced in a bar. The service was excellent. Very nice and cozy atmosphere, too. Next time we dare to eat the local fish stuff and have some of those...
