We had dinner and opted for two local, fresh fish dishes. Both fish were cooked to perfection and were accompanied by equally beautifully prepared vegetables, potatoes and sauces. Whoever the chefs cooked knew what they were doing, that included the dessert. The servìce was excellent. We asked for recommendation on the wines and they were perfect matches, including a red wine with fish. The dinner was excellent value for money. The great surprice came the following day when joining a local food tour through 5 top city eatries it included the Solon. Make sure to visit Solon when in Reykjavik. Great atmosphere and the food is very well prepared, delicious and you will not be disappointed. Ask for suggestions as the staff will cater to your needs. I will add they have the best hamburger I’ve ever tasted. The real hidden gem is the bar. Friendliest and best barman in Iceland. Don’t order from the menu, ask them to suggest a cocktail and they will create something that is guaranteed to exceed your expectations. My wife and I came here in the summer to celebrate our wedding. We happened upon the Solon restaurant by chance and fell in love with it. The ambience, the service, the food and drink selection were second to none (I especially enjoyed the fish soup). We came back to Reykjavík to celebrate the New Years and we had to make a return appearance at the Solon. It was a fantastic dining experience once again.
