If you're looking for a cozy and charming spot to indulge in some delicious American-style breakfast, Grái Kötturinn is the perfect place for you. This quaint cafe tucked away at the side of the street is a hidden gem that serves up some of the most mouth-watering breakfast items you'll ever taste.
One of the menu items that you definitely have to try is The Truck, which is perfect for those with a big appetite. It's a hearty and filling dish that will leave you feeling satisfied for hours. And if you're a pancake lover, you won't be disappointed by the fluffy and soft pancakes that are served at Grái Kötturinn.
To wash it all down, their aromatic tea is the perfect complement to your meal. But if you're feeling a bit more indulgent, their hot cocoa is an absolute must-try. It's incredibly rich and decadent, with the whipped cream and chocolate drizzle on top adding an extra touch of sweetness.
The cafe itself is cozy and filled with books and cute antiquities, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy your meal. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the service is quick and efficient.
One thing that really stood out during my visit was the excellent customer service. When they ran out of hot cocoa, the staff kindly offered us a small cup made from the remaining chocolate for free. And when they later made more chocolate, they informed us and asked if we would like another cup, which we happily accepted and paid for.
Overall, Grái Kötturinn is a fantastic spot for a delicious and cozy breakfast. The menu is filled with tempting options, and the friendly staff and excellent service make for a truly enjoyable dining experience. Highly...
Read moreCeliacs beware! Other reviews say there are gluten free options, by this they mean you can modify the meal by removing any bread. However, there is not a substitute gluten free bread or pancake. So only come here if you simply want eggs and potatoes. I ordered a gluten free order of Eggs & Bacon. To make it gluten free they removed the toast and gave me an extra egg. Except- when the order came out there were huge pieces of bread on the plate touching every food item. It seems the cook is the one that brought it out and when I asked if it was gluten free she was confused and asked me if I had ordered gluten free to which I said yes. Then she took the plate in the back, a few minutes later- not nearly as long as it took for the food to come out the first time, she came back with a plate that looked exactly the same except the bread had been removed.
The food was what you would expect. The eggs tasted like eggs. The potatoes had a nice crispy shell. And the bacon was very good but some may think it salty. The homemade hot sauce was good, not too spicy and slightly sweet- might not be to everyone’s taste.
The service is fine, you have to go up to the counter to order and pay. Wait staff does not come to the table except to drop off food. That said I was very impressed by the staff, there was one person managing seating people, taking orders, processing payment, making beverages (barista), and all with a kindly manner.
The space is VERY cozy, sort of an underground bookstore cafe with warm/dark mood lighting. Lots of red and mustard yellow aesthetic. Clientele was causal, familial, and mixed.

Read moreI love this place! If you’re looking for a classic American breakfast, this is the place to go! I went here every day for breakfast during my trip!! The bacon, eggs, potatoes, and toast are amazing!! Their ketchup is also better than any ketchup I’ve ever tried.
I think it is important to note that I am a picky eater and was nervous about eating in a new country. As soon as I sat down in the restaurant, I was totally relaxed and was so over the moon when I tried the food!! The only breakfast I’ve had that tasted this fresh and homemade in America is breakfast I cooked at home and from a restaurant in Idaho! This place is a gem!!
If you’re a picky eater, add this to your list of places to try!! You won’t be disappointed!!
The staff is amazing, welcoming, helpful, and kind! Everyone spoke English, and their menus have an English section, too!!
Also, the inside of the building is absolutely adorable and I wish more places had this cute of interiors!! For me, it looked like something out of a dream. The inside was small but lively and lovely. I still bring up how much I love the decor and the food from Grai Kotturinn, and I went there 4 months ago. I wish there were a Grai Kotturinn down the street from my house because I would continue to go every day. It...
