The KLG (Koramangala Lunch Group) visited Anupam’s Coast II Coast in Koramangala today. Great experience. We were welcomed almost immediately and offered a table. Decor is decent. The place is clean. The wash basin area was clean.

We ordered the Kane (lady fish) Masala Fry, Chicken Sukkha, Chicken Ghee Roast, Prawn Tawa Fry, Pomfret COASTAL curry. The carbs included Pundi, Neer Dosa, Appams, Red Rice, and Roti of Kori Roti fame. Dessert included Caramel Custard and Ragi Manni (a dense smooth ragi halwa sweetened with jaggery, lots of cardamom and steamed).

Stand-out All the food was good. The masalas bright red with chillies but no added colour. The type of spicy that invites you to take another bite, not blow you away. The sukka is made with fresh coconut which you can taste, while the ghee roast has an all chilly masala (like the kane above) along with loads of home flavoured ghee.

The COASTAL curry is like the Gassi. The regular curry is a thick gravy almost like a ‘lipta’ masala.

Both the fish were fresh. The Kane was huge, and if you do not know how to eat kane, ask the captains. They are knowledgeable and helpful.

The prawns were not as good as the rest of the dishes. You can consider them a Mangalore version of the American popcorn shrimp or avoid them.

The Ragi Manni was just out of this world. Just sweet enough. Loads of cardamom, and steamed. It is the perfect guilt-free dessert. Ragi, Jaggery, and steamed. All good for you.

At the end of the meal, despite eating a huge meal we did not feel overloaded.

Service was decent to good. Not exceptional.

The restaurant does serve Chineese (sic) also, but we were there for Mangaluru food.

Total bill for 5 of us, including 5 fresh lime sodas Rs 3,753 or Rs 750 per person which is inclusive of a 10% service charge.

Since we ate excessive, we estimate a couple’s bill to be between Rs 750 - Rs 1,000 depending on whether you order seafood and fish. These are the expensive items.

I rate the food 4.75/5 (because of the prawns). 3/5/5 service. 4/5 cleanliness. 5/5 Attitude.

Visit recommendation:...

I have been going to coast to coast restaurant mg road from over 7 years now. However I am terribly disappointed with them after consecutive bad experience with coast to coast mg road. Last time when I was there around a month back with my folks I ordered for chicken ghee roast parcel before leaving the restaurant. They generally have big pieces of chicken around 12-14 pieces for full chicken priced at rs 600 full plate. After reaching home there was only 6 pieces of chicken. I thought this must have happened by mistake. As I am a frequent visitor to this restaurant. Yesterday I was there at coast to coast mg road restaurant yet again and my husband and myself ordered for full chicken ghee roast. Since we were already full with neer dosa and squid butter garlic. We ate only one piece each of the ghee roast out of our order of full chicken ghee roast. But this time the pieces were very tiny and small and so I called the person who took our order and asked him about the size variation, he said for the masala to marinate well they have made small pieces and there were around 15 small pieces. I requested to parcel the chicken gheeroast as we couldn't eat it. When I came home and all of us planned to have dinner only 5 pieces were parceled. Out of 13 pieces!! What about the remaining pieces? I was so furious as this happened for the second time and now I was sure that this was done purposefully! Why would they want to cheat the customer when I have paid;rs 600 for one full plate of gheeroast! I even called the manager (Mr ranjith n Mr Ravi) and informed him about this disgusting mishap from the management yet for a second time. I need an immediate rectification of the problem. We come to the restaurant to enjoy our food and not to be cheated. I need an immediate answer for...

Totally disappointed and felt it's a waste of money. The food here is nothing compared to the Hotels in Mangalore. The dishes don't even have the authentic Manglorean taste. The thing I liked here the most is the staff and service. The waiter was Polite and patient enough in taking our order and explained about each and every item.

Ordered Panner Ghee Roast ( Rs. 290) - The taste was bitter as many red chillies were used and it didn't even have the authentic ghee roast taste from Mangalore. Would rate it ( 3 out of 10) Not worth ordering

Apam ( Rs. 65 per plate 2 appams) it was literally tasteless didn't enjoy it much.Would rate it ( 2 out of 10) Not worth ordering

Prawn Masala fry ( Rs.400) The same masala which was used for ghee roast had been used and it literally tasted like prawn ghee roast and not masala fry. Would rate it ( 5 out of 10) Not worth ordering

Crab Sukka ( Rs. 500) This was the only thing which I liked at this resturant, lots of coconut and coconut oil is used which makes the dish lip smacking. Remember to ask the weight of the crab before buying as the price is based on the weight of the crab. Would rate it ( 9 out of 10).Worth ordering

Neer Dosa ( Rs.65 per plate 5 small triangular pieces are provided) The dosa wasnt cooked properly and could feel the batter and the neer dosa should be thin usually but this one was fat.Would rate it ( 0 out of 10) Not worth ordering

Fresh lime soda ( Rs. 65 per glass) Would rate it ( 8 out of 10)

Overall would like to tell that the restaurant isn't that good as I've tasted the exact Manglorean style of food and the food served here, doesn't even have the authentic taste. So I would recommend to think twice before going and ordering any food from here. Not worth for...

I am giving review for this restaurant after trying other coastal restaurants also, the taste of the food takes you to the coastal region and authentic taste. You just get lost for the taste of coastal cuisine. They won’t use any type of food colour or tasting powder. They use only spices and the food colour you see is only due to the Mirchi. So it is hygienic food. Coming to the taste of which we ordered is as follows Mackerel Masala Fry - This dish I really liked a lot, the fish is fresh and the masala is good you get tangy taste more and it is perfectly roasted and gives fun to your taste buds. If you are looking for spicy then opt for it. Mackerel Tava Roast - The masala is plain and not spicy and it is roasted well in tava and sprinkled with chat masala, which gives good taste when you are having. Neer Dose and Chicken Ghee Roast - This is the best combination of coastal cuisine and must try. The chicken ghee roast is bit spicy but goes well with Neer dose and in a plate they serve 5 Neer dose and they are small and one person can easily have it. You also get Ganji, boiled rice and kori roti and chicken sukka which you can try and it never disappoints you. The place from outside doesn’t impress you but once you enter the ambiance is good with picture of coastal region displayed on the wall and they have kept it so clean and the service is also best. They serve very decently and politely. I highly recommend this place if you are in urge to have Karnataka coastal cuisine.

It's all in all MANGALOREAN...Be it the service staff, the chef, the owners and the founder (Anupama). Well if u are craving for sea food, then this place is a must visit among all the other koramangala sea food chains. The service guys were real cool and attentive and spot on ready to serve. We just wanna eat light & the food we ordered was Appam, Masala squid fry that's roasted in ghee and some chicken fried rice.... The appam was ok and the masala in the squid was just too much and the fried was also nothing out of normal... As i said earlier we just wanted to eat light and perhaps we didn't order their best stuff... But still we liked whatever we ordered but the squid fry had little to do with squid rings and was simply like masala smash on the plate.... In the end the bill was around 700/- and so on a serious note, i believe that it's over priced. Coming to the ambience, this outlet here in koramangala unlike their other popular outlets like be it on mg road or Mangalore, is simple and properly furnished with adequate dining space at each table and with their predominant Red standout furnishings. The restaurant isn't too big and all like the other outlets but it roughly accommodates some 20-25 odd tables. And a note worthy thing is their lil collection of Pics on Mangalorean culture be it the kambala race, their traditional huts, roofs & pillared houses...etc.
