Having visited HSR branch of Bhartiya Jalpan many times for north Indian snacks, Bhartiya Jalpan was the natural choice for our house warming party of about 50 guests. For outdoor catering services, we were directed to their recently opened branch on Sarjapura Road. We got in touch with Mr. Azeem (manager) and Mr. Prashant.
Both of them were very helpful in deciding the right menu for the guests and they also took care of ALL the equipment needed for serving at the party hall including the man power. They had arranged for 5-6 people for preparing the table and serving the guests. They arranged a live counter for serving three varieties of hot pooris to the guests, though we hadn't specified anything.
Our the day of the party, Mr. Azeem and his staff arrived 3 hours ahead of the lunch time and made sure that all the arrangements were in place. Mr. Azeem went out of his way to help organize the tables in the party hall. He took care of all the arrangements while I was busy with the ceremonies and the guests. With him taking care of all the catering arrangements, I had nothing to worry about catering and even supervising the arrangements. He stayed till the end of the function and made sure things were flawless. It was just superb!
For starters we had hara bhara kabab, Kachoris and Jal jeera. Main dish consisted of pindi chhole, paneer takatak, mix veg, veg pulao and other condiments. Gajar halwa and rasagolla were served for dessert.
Overall, we and our guests were very pleased by the good quality and taste of their food - it was same (or I may say better) than what they serve at their outlets. Staff was nice and polite with the guests. It is worth mentioning that though we had ordered for 50 guests, Mr. Azeem made sure that there was enough food for 80+ guests. Few guests didn't turn up due to bad weather resulting in lots of left over...something that was avoidable.
I would definitely avail their services again and would recommend them for north...

Read moreThis is my first ever review of anything. I felt the need to write one for this place (Bharatiya Jalpan at Sarjapura Road) because of the extraordinarily poor experience I had. I'll try to be as fair as possible.
I went there for breakfast. The ambience was good. The first difficulty I faced was the sparse number of menu cards. The next difficulty was the lack of a token system in serving the customers. That created unnecessary tension between customers who wait to pick their orders up. The third dispiriting issue was the limited options for breakfast - there was just chola batura, poori plate and a few varieties of parathas. So, everybody coming in was pretty much ordering the same set of dishes. One can imagine how the pick-up area must have been without a token system. If they can do one thing right - they can put up a token system for customers at the pick-up area. That will make a helluva difference. Coming to the ambience - why was the same 'tip-tip barsa paani' put on an infinite loop. They had one thing going for them - the ambience - and they couldn't get that right fully. Last and most important - the food. If you want good North Indian food far better than this place - go to a South Indian restaurant like A2B and order north Indian food there. Everything was sub-par in taste. They need to overhaul their cooking staff. The chole that go with the batoora was especially bad. The aloo subji that went with the poori plate was unimpressive.
To end, let me give credit where it is due: The parking arrangement was good The hand wash area was clean The AC was functioning The staff were polite The masala...
