Burma is a country, which is now known as Myanmar which borders with India. One thing I always knew Burma is for their traditional Burmese dress known as longyi which is similar to skirt. I paid a visit to this Burma Burma in Indira Nagar on a weekday for dinner and loved their unconventional Burmese food. 🌶️🥦🍄🍗🍖🧀🥩🥘🍲🥗🍚🍜🍝🍢🍣🍤🍡🍧🍨🍦🍹
🇦The ambience of this place is good, I loved their artworks and traditional artisans placed around the restaurant. The lighting is pretty good and everyone will fall in love with their hanging light sets. They have seating arrangements for about 70-80 pax and the furnitures are comfortable and good too.
🇸 Service at this restaurant is simply awesome. The manager of the restaurant along with his subordinate Mr Bhagyaraj took good care of us. Mr Bhagyaraj was very eager to give a description about the food which were served. He also went a step ahead by explaining them in local language too. He truly deserves respect for his atmost sincerity while performing his job with great interest and patience.
🇫🍽️ What I ate ⁉️ 🥗Salads ➡️ There were three types of salads provided all three pretty unique of its own kind. We had the sunflower and mango salads. Their salads is one of the must try.
🍡Grilled mock meat skewers ➡️ Please don't go by the presentation. I got cheated by my eyes when I ordered them since they looked like a meat skewer. This skewer comprised of buck wheat, soya with spices that was grilled to perfection and tasted amazing.
🍢Tangy spring vegetables bun ➡️ This was another extra ordinary food item that was served, the bun looked like a South Indian idly but apparently it wasn't. The bun was made up of flour, the vegetables were nicely sorted and placed between the buns. The presentation and the taste was good.
🍄Lotus stem crisps ➡️ These lotus stem crisps which are mostly found in many of the south east Asian restaurants was very different here. Infact I would rather say it was the best I ever had. They were crispy, spicy and just perfect.
🍜Burma Burma oh no khowsuey ➡️ It looks so simple yet tastes at a different level. It was the Hakka and noodles which were well mixed with the soft coconut milk and lemon grass. They were also mixed with a little of tamarind and other vegetables.
🍚Fried rice with tea leaf ➡️ It was a nice fusion of fried rice and tea leaf pretty much unconventional and special yet tasted good.
☕Burma Burma tea blend ➡️ This was a live tea that was prepared right in front of us. The tea apparatus looked like it was imported from a laboratory since it looked all complicated. The mixture of water and the flavours right in front of us was definitely a treat to the eyes. The tea on the other hand was outstanding. You can go on gulping down any number of tea.
🍧 Smokey avocado and honey caviar ice cream ➡️ This is a must try dessert if you visit this place. Everything was picture perfect from presentation to taste. It was my first time I tasted the avocado ice cream and they were a delight to the taste buds. I was so impressed that I ordered another one.
🍨Tangy piyan durian ice cream ➡️ It was prepared from a very unique fruit. The piyan was quite different.
All in all Burma Burma is quite a wonderful vegetarian restaurant at the heart of indiranagar. They are just perfect in whatever they do. Their precision with simple things like sauces so that it amplifies your food. Their mockails were good too. The detail in their work needs high level of appreciation. The ambience and the service is another excellent thing about this place. Parking is not an issue since there is a basement available.

Read moreBurma Burma was suggested by one of my friend. We visited on new year day. Waiting time stretches as they follow social distancing from table to table and they allow 50% occupancy.
As the name itself explains, the food served here from Burma. The authentic Burma cuisine which has been mentioned in their menu.
Ambience is pretty good. They have tea bar, which is unusual. It’s a pure veg and non-alcoholic restaurant.
We ordered: Samosa soup, Raw mango salad, Samosa salad, Crunchy tofu buns, Burmese naan with creamy white pea, Fried rice with tea leaf and Avacado ice cream.
Samosa soup: Soup was thin and sharp in taste. Samosa was smashed and soaked. This has let the soup to enhance the spicy. When you sip, you feel the tangy on your tongue and when swallowed you feel slight spicy.
Raw mango salad: shred raw mango added with roasted peanuts, red chilly & fried onions to give sweet and tangy savour. Roasted peanut gave hint of smoky flavour, which made me to savour more.
Samosa salad: shred cabbage mixed with red chilly, onion, tomato & topped with coriander. This was tart and sharp.
Crunchy tofu buns: mushy and airy. The crunch patty stuffed in between the buns and spread with mayonnaise and some red gravy. It was so delicious to savour.
Burmese naan: Naan was so mushy and fluffy, I thought it was bun 😊 White pea gravy was served as a dip. As name says, gravy was quite creamy.
Fried rice with tea leaf: This dish astonished me because, tea leaf is used for rice and could have had hint or could have enhanced sour flavour, but it didn’t happen that way. Rice was tossed with crunchy finely chopped garlic and fried with tea leaf. It was an out of the world taste. Smooth and nice.
Avocado ice cream: quality was great. Topped with sago & honey. Presentation was absolutely creative, as they served with bowl of nitrogen liquid, so we feel it’s snowy.
They have different dinning area for family. Table booking is taken upto 1pm and 7pm in the evening. Further to this time, it’s direct walk-in. Make sure you are on time.
Staffs are amazing. I must mention, Mr. Kabir Hussain who is the captain of cooking crew and helped us to savour all these distinct food. We were so happy about his suggestions.
Temperature is checked for each customer and every table is sanitised before occupied.
Food taste:5/5 Ambience: 4/5 Staff: 5/5 Price: Quite high - they can revisit on pricing. I’m sure, it would grab more customers.
Note: Due to covid, if you feel safe then visit. Wear mask and carry...
Read moreWe finally made it here. Many restaurants and their staff have a lot to learn from Burma Burma. It's not always about the food or the ambience or just the service. One needs to have it all. You need to feel welcomed at any restaurant. And I must mention that Burma Burma had nailed it. The waiters are polite and they know exactly what the dishes comprise of. We spoke to 3 of them and all knew what we ordered and what the dishes were made of.
We were also told little stories of Burma and the restaurant. I for one enjoyed it :)
Anyways, having heard so much about the place, I had to eat here. So we got here on a Tuesday afternoon for lunch to celebrate my husband's birthday and all the tables except one were occupied. We were greeted politely by smiling faces and were walked to our table. Within seconds, our glasses were filled with water and menu cards were provided. A waiter came in and introduced himself and was ready to take our order. After we completed, he explained the sauces that we on the table.
The first dish arrived - our tea leaf salad. This was spectacular. Had a great crunchy texture underneath all those leafy vegetables. We enjoyed every bite. The next was the mojito: this was perfectly refreshing and helped beat the heat of Bangalore. Then arrived mock meat skewers: these chunks are made up of wheat and soy. They were surprisingly soft and tender. The spice rub added a different texture and taste to the dish. The rub is not a smooth paste and neither is coarsely ground. It's somewhere in the middle. Either ways it was tasty. Next was sticky rice with mushrooms wrapped in banana leaves with soy based sauce: well this was different. I liked it but wouldn't go for it again. The mushroom mixture is spread across a bed of sticky rice and then wrapped in banana leaves, which are then steamed. Of course the khowsuey : Do I need to say anything here? This was phenomenal. I love coconut milk in any form. This bowl had a great mix of vegetables, broth, wheat noodles and all those toppings (photo attached). Last but not the least: the dessert. A coconut custard with sago pearls coated in a jaggery mixture served along with toasted grated coconut. This wasn't too sweet. It was perfect and light.
We ended our meal on a great note and we will be back soon with the rest of my folks. Thank you Burma Burma for telling us that even veg meals can have so many variations and that they can be...
