Not my first time at Travellers Bungalow, but definitely a first time as a non-vegetarian so I got to try some of the delicious creations including a cashew chicken which turned out to be a favourite, and the adana kebab in both plant meat and minced chicken versions stole our heart. We ended up here as a large group of friends for a Sunday brunch, 8 adults and 6 kids and started ordering drinks to cool off the warm Bengaluru afternoon.
From the Fun without Sin, the mocktail section, the Travellers collada was simply an amazing drink to look at and taste too, served in a tiny tender coconut, it was soul satisfying on a hot day. The Elderflower Gypsy was a crowd favourite that we ordered more than a couple of times and the combination of thyme and elderflower was very refreshing.
My usual order of spanakopita and potato bravas, along with a cold mezze platter, was perfect as always and pleased the vegetarian section of the crowd while the cashew chicken was loved by the non-vegetarian part of the gang.
We actually ordered the minced chicken koobideh, along with the paneer adana, but both the dishes looked exactly the same and I soon realised that instead of the chicken koobideh they had served us the Turkish adana with chicken, no complaints though it was a fabulous and meaty dish that we all loved.
I loved both the grilled mushroom and pumpkin skewers and the char grilled cottage cheese served in a espetada style of the dish hanging in a skewer, with a chimichurri poured over.
The Assati of Seafood, with prawns, fish and calamari in a creamy mustard sauce was a little less than impressive for me and wifey while the rest of the group enjoyed it.
We chose to order a couple of thai green curry veg and a red curry chicken as mains, which tasted as authentic as it could get, but the portions were quite disappointing for a large group to share.
As we grew closer towards the end of the meal, we ordered a Rose Silk, reminding us of a roohafza, but the Coorg Molasses coffee was a strong cold version that I personally loved.
I wished to skip desserts here and move somewhere else for that as in my last visit the desserts were sub-standard in terms of taste and creativity. But, when we saw the dessert menu it looked impressive and we ordered a tiramisu and tres leches to share. My feedback from previous visits had helped, and their dessert game was definitely turned into a full 360 and we all thoroughly enjoyed them, both were superb.
While the portions of the mains could be more, to justify the price, the air-conditioning was not very effective and it made us really feel uncomfortable, and there were not much of tables to which we could shift to on a crowded sunday afternoon, but also because everywhere in the lower level was equally sultry. We were a large bunch and ordered a lot of dishes and drinks that came in all sorts of order and some did not come at all as we had to constantly remind them, but thankfully the kid's orders reached quick which kept them at bay from the adult conversations. Definitely a place that I would recommend if you want to try some crafty cocktails and mocktails paired with some fantastic food...

When one is engrossed and absorbing the beauty of the hanging lights, the decorative plants lying on the low tables and chairs, we see the waiters bringing in tender coconuts all around and we get to know that it’s a mocktail called Travellers’ Colada, pina colada in the Travellers’ Bungalow style with tender coconut, served in tender coconut. The cocktail menu here is quite extensive here ranging from the classics to speciality barrel aged spirits infused ones. Ginger and rum, whiskey, wine are stored in barrels are aged and infused, then made into fantastic cocktails. The Brigadier has a shot of the infused whiskey and vanilla espresso, not overpowering the whiskey but a balance with vanilla espresso. Captain jack sparrow has the ginger rum and this is a beautiful concoction. I would love me some gin and hence got my hands on the Navy ball, it is a simple G&T with grapefruit infusion which is lovely. Go on and order yourself some curated cocktails like the Travellers’ club, 1950s republic etc.
Travellers’ Bungalow boasts about having dishes from 20 countries in their menu. There are lots of options for vegetarians and we covered that today. Started with some Greek pockets named as Spanakopita where the mini pie pockets are backed with spinach, a bit of sumac stuffed inside. This is a bliss, balanced and a perfect way to start a dish. Spain called Bravas! Tapas are adorned with a burnt pepper sauce and there was a leafy note because of Colocasia. The Italians bring in some Ravioli in a comfort bowl.
