I usually do not try a new place without looking it up on google, but today was an evening where I was on the way to home and I saw this cute little place. It was an impulsive decision at best, maybe I was attracted with the simplest of decor..... But boy, was I in for a treat!. The presentation was as simple as it can be... the way I like it... no nonsense. I know the owners were serious about food , when they told the reason they store the cheesecakes separately. ( If you don't see cheesecakes in the front display, please do ask, its nothing like what I had anywhere else ). I tried eclairs, lemon tart, spinach-mushroom-quiche and mango-cheesecake. Each of the items is well made, and it seems love is gone into making those. That ingredient is something which I miss in big (branded) bake-houses. For me the eclairs was "perfect", not too sweet, not too bland, but perfect and it does melt in the mouth. The cheesecake is not something which I got anywhere in BLR, it has a tartiness in it, and me and wife had it finished up in no time. I would say one cannot go wrong with stuff here, because all the 4 items were delicious. But this is a place for refined taste, if you are looking for a sugar rush, this is not the place. I am reserved with my words, but I felt this little place deserves some love (which it totally deserves ). I will be back again...
Read moreAs an American living in Texas who's sampled French pastries across Paris, Montreal, and even our own French-influenced New Orleans, I was honestly skeptical about finding authentic French patisserie in Bangalore. Boy, was I wrong about Plume Cafe.
Tucked away in Indiranagar, this place delivers the real deal. Their croissants have that perfect honeycomb structure and buttery flakiness that's surprisingly hard to find even in upscale American bakeries. The pain au chocolat reminds me of mornings spent at my favorite spot in the 6th arrondissement - crisp exterior giving way to layers of soft, buttery pastry with quality chocolate that isn't overly sweet.
What sets Plume apart is how they've maintained French techniques while thoughtfully incorporating local elements. The library shelf-lined walls create an atmosphere that's both cosmopolitan and comfortably homey - something I didn't expect to find thousands of miles from home.
If you've been disappointed by "French-inspired" bakeries before, trust this Texan who doesn't impress easily - Plume Cafe stands among the top 10 French bakeries I've tried worldwide. And I've tried...
