What a dreadful Sunday brunch experience!! Did not expect this low level from a Five star brand. Such a shame!!
I visited this outlet for my birthday brunch and I still dread the day. We were a group of four friends who faced bad luck when we decided to have Sunday brunch in Feast@Sheraton, Rajaji nagar. We are still terrified every time we talk about this one brunch experience. It was so bad, I have literally no words to put it. I have been food blogging for a decade where I have been to 1000's of restaurants , big and small, cheap and expensive but I have never had such a horrible experience in any of the restaurants in the country.
As we entered, we could smell the pungent fish smell in the middle of the restaurant. They were grilling fish in the centre of the restaurant and it was so difficult to breathe. I mean this could have happened outside right ? The tandoori options were only for fish and not for other items like chicken, mutton, or vegetarian at all. The spread looked less, sad and not so appealing. We thought, maybe it doesn't look appealing but may taste good. It didn't. Of all the dishes we tried, not one was good. We ordered samosa chaat and tikki chaat as we entered. The samosa chaat never reached our table despite 5+ reminders to staff, manager and the counter itself. You can imagine how they run the buffet. The Mexican affair was only for paneer , no chicken, no other items. The sushis were the saddest of the lot. The guy did not know how to make one. He garnished crab sticks in a vegetarian sushi option for our vegetarian friend. What a disappointment. Especially in a country like India, people are pure vegetarian and mockery of their religion is not cool. We still let it go. The main course was getting over but no one refilled it. We were reminded several times for chicken curry refills and biryani refills. No one bothered, it never came and we never could enjoy a main course. Coming to desserts, again a sad experience. Nearby bakeries and sweet shops on roads do a better job. The jalebi were white in color, not sure why. We ordered for them, it came cold so requested the staff. They again brought cold jalebi. We went to the counter and asked for hot jalebis, as promised and it never happened. We went to the counter for one last time to see the counter shutting down before the buffet closes. Is it not an insult ? The mithai and icecreams were sub standard ones and tasted ghastly. We were not full, not even half full, we just got up and decided to not face any more insults on the high price we paid(2800++ INR Per Person) and went to Orion mall to eat something that can help to fill our tummy. It was really upsetting for all of us and it was embarrassing on my part since I brought my friends here.
While I am okay with below average food, drinks and service, this cheap level of shutting the buffet down before its timings and the staff not listening at all was shameful on your part. I am never recommending Sheraton in Rajaji Nagar to anyone. For those who are reading this review, please save yourself. This place is a waste of time, effort, money and is a vibe killer unfortunately. I am in no way defaming but just mentioning such a horrible experience I have had here. Sad part is, I informed the manager, he was least bothered. Not visiting here...
Read moreSheraton Grand is unlike most Five star properties that set low expectations from vibes reflecting the soul of the place, thanks to cookie-cutter Art Deco - a reason themed restaurants keep attracting large numbers of patrons- with standard high ceilings, colonnades, plush material, granite and marble everywhere, chandeliers, gilt edging, water body. It is the people that sets a place apart -their ready natural smiles, their interactions, and the expression of their love for the job through the service and food, that gets one wanting to visit again. Feast, the in-house restaurant of Sheraton Grand, located near Brigade Gateway, Orion Mall and behind Metro cash & carry, is one such gem. Their F&B team led by Director, Mahiul (with whom I shared a few words to convey our appreciation) has members who were poised, responsive and cheerful, and included Pradeep, Mohan, Vishal, Svetlana and a number of others, who made our delectable Easter- special lunch relaxed and memorably enjoyable. The food was Spot-on, with just enough space to try their interactive Grill and a number of Dessert (Jalebi , Chaat and Waffles -to-order counters) and with select main course spread from Thai, Awadhi, Kerala, Tamil cuisine to Italian Pasta-to-order, we wished we had gotten along spare capacity to dive into every gem of recreation of the Exec/SousChefs. The pastry corner had an entire section devoted to cake-based creations and cookies, keeping with the season's theme. An assorted cheese selection attracted us. All dishes shone and one rare-to-find in Bangalore included Murg Hawa Mahal, exceptionally well done. Another was the XO Fried rice - rare. A special mention must be made for the roast Turkey, roast chicken, exceptional grilled whole fish and fall-off-the-bone perfect ham. Delectable. We wished the pork rind had been separately fried to a crisp, too...Ah! Rare it is to enjoy a meal in a buffet spread, what with their preference for lower-than-usual spice levels as commonly adopted in in-house restaurants of 5star Hotels, but Feast just surpassed expectations. A magician keeps desultory eaters engrossed while a diva gave us some great numbers in the background. There was a special arrangement to keep tiny tots engaged, with an impromptu play zone setup in the lobby. Nothing seems to have missed the attention and empathy of Maihul - applying the first principles in customer service! And about that inescapable crunchy- hot jalebi! (at the counter, i was refused a selection of jalebi I reached for, because "i will make them hot and crisp for you; those must have gone cold already!" Amazing - This is devotion to one's art! Looking forward to another...
Read moreOn the month of January we stayed in this hotel. Liked their buffet spread very much so decided to spend our Valentine’s Day over there. First of all we were wrongly informed about the timing. Mr. Sukumar told us over phone that the event will be on 2 slots. 7.30-9.30pm and 9.30-11.30pm, which was completely wrong information. There was nothing as such Valentine’s Day special event was going on ( except one balloon frame) As per the information we reached there around 9.40pm, as we booked the 9.30-11.30pm slot. Food was good like every day. Around 10.20 one of a staff came the bill and told us that you have to pay now. We were like? “ seriously “? Now? He told us that “ yes, we are about to close”. I mean we are going to spend almost 6k a for single dinner and we don’t even have 1 hour to finish our meal?? As we have “ bonvoy” membership thought May be we will get some discount so asked one of a in-charge that is it applicable on today or not. He just gave us a look like we are free loaders here and we can’t be elite member. ( don’t know how elite members look like). He told that “ you have to download the app and if you can show me then you will definitely get a discount. Previously we never needed to show that because as we stay in Marriott and visit their restaurants very frequently every details are already there. Anyway we start downloading the app, as the network was slow inside the hotel it was taking little bit of time, by the time 2/3 times staff started coming us to pay the bill. Then we told one of them that we are waiting the app to be downloaded. He told us no discount will be given to day and I am sure about it. You don’t have to download anything, it’s considered as black day. So, we were again misguided and wrongly informed by Sheraton staff, which is not acceptable, any way we pay the bill and left the place. One thing for sure, normal days are okay but we are definitely not going to visit this place on any special occasions. Staffs attitude changes, their urge of hospitality, behaviour everything changes on those days. No water was served for very long time we had to ask for it, Asked a dessert spoon but the staff simply forgot it, got it after asking for 3rd time. 5star hotels charges huge amount for a single meal for their hospitality and service which was missing. Last year we visited Novotel and we were so happy to see the special arrangement. The poolside decorations, lights, table decoration everything was just like dreamy and so like Valentine’s Day. Overall this Sheraton visit was not a...
