Indira Canteensare a chain of fast-food joints inBengaluru, India, started, subsidized and run byBruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike(BBMP). The first Indira Canteen at Jayanagar was launched by Rahul Gandhi on 15 August 2017, on theindependence dayof the nation.1]Each such canteen are planned to serve 500 people per meal per day.

Structure The canteens will be constructed in all 197 civic wards in Bengaluru. The fast-food joints will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinners to the local people at a highly subsidized price.[2Idlisand coconut chutney along with variety rice of the day will be served in breakfast, for lunch and dinner, rice, sambar, curd rice, tomato bath and a few other items will be served.[1]Food will be served only within fixed timings, Breakfast will be served only from 07:30 AM to 09:30AM, Lunch will be served only from 12:30PM to 03:00 PM and Dinner from 07:30PM to 09:00PM.27 centralized kitchens are planned in each assembly constituency of Bengaluru. Only 9of such centralized are functioning and all of such canteens are expected to be operational by October 2017.

Tihe Indira canteen always provides very low quantities of food! Many times, I have experienced diarrhea after eating here. Due to my financial situation, I cannot afford food from outside, so I come to this canteen for meals. Today (June 15, 2024), they served uncooked rice!
