A little bit of Cambodia in the city of Bengaluru. Khmer Kitchen offers an authentic Cambodian experience with the unique dishes, excellent taste, and a beautiful ambiance. Located in J.P Nagar, this place will surely be popular for it’s food and experience as a whole.
We started off with a couple of drinks, Apsarita is one of their twisted classics. Apsarita is a tequila based drink, with south Indian buttermilk with chilli infusion, served in a salt rim-kissed earthen cup. The presentation of this drink was very unique and the experience is something that I had never had before in my life.
The next drink was the Curry Daiquiri. This was a white rum drink with Indian spices and herbs put together with a vibrant tropical flavor and a hint of tanginess. This drink is magical, in fact one of the best white rum cocktails I have ever had.
As for a mocktail we tried the Tusker’s Delight, which was mild tangy based drink. Although it did not match the excitement we had for the cocktails, this was a decent drink.
For starters we had the Dim Sums first. Our choice was the Chicken Floret, which is juicy chicken morsels marinated with oyster sauce in chef’s special Asian spices, encased in a dumpling resembling a flower. The Dim Sum was not your typical white, but black and the sauces provided goes hand in hand with the Dim Sum. You get four dumplings in a single serve.
Out next starter was Bao. The Chicken Bao was cutely presented, the chicken morsels napped in Asian BBQ sauce and encased in a chicken shaped bao.
We wanted to try the BANH MI, but unfortunately they were not available in the afternoon. They have two different menus for the lunch and dinner.
For our main course, we had two different Asian Bowls. Our first was the Teriyaki Chicken Bowl, which is rich chicken broth with Udon Noodles, teriyaki chicken, and fresh vegetables with half poached egg. The broth was rich in taste. The vegetables are fresh and one can understand how healthy it truly is.
Our next Asian Bowl was Malaysian Laksa. Laksa is juicy chicken simmered in a traditional coconut curry sauce topped with noodles and fresh vegetables. It is easy to get the coconut curry wrong, but I must say, the people at Khmer Kitchen have absolutely nailed this dish to perfection.
We ended our time at Kher Kitchen with an Italian Coffee, a Curtado.
Khmer Kitchen is located at 697, 15th Cross, 100 Feet Ring Road, 2nd Phase, JP Nagar, Bangalore. The experience at Khmer Kitchen is very unique because of the amazing Cambodian ambiance, the food is really great, and the staff is ever so courteous. I would highly recommend you to take a reservation and then go as it is crowded most of the time. The quantity at times may surprise you as it is towards the likes of a fine dining experience, but it is worth the taste. For two of us with liqour it costed us 3,200 INR and if it was just food then the cost would be around 2,100 INR. They have valet service and also they do not accept American...
Read moreWhat did I have? Na-Taang Soup: veggies simmered in ginger, coriander and lemon broth with rice crackers. It is almost a clear soup and the crackers could have been served separately as it became soggy when kept on the soup and there should be a little larger portion of crackers. However the soup 🍲 was a fulfilling 🤤 and I slurped it till the last drop
Crispy Banana Blossom Salad: fried banana tenders, Cambodian onion chilli dressing, mint, basil, red onion and coconut milk powder... One bite and it reminded me of the Bambaiyya bhelpuri, almost like one. Crispy, crunchy with lots of flavours and spices. The only downside here was that the banana tenders were super fibrous and I didn't realise that I would have wholesome residue left in my mouth after I would chew everything. It was a lot and I had to set it aside with every bite... 🙈🙈🙈 The taste compensated everything so I'm not complaining
White Garlic Curry with Baby Potatoes, Paneer, Capsicum, Zucchini, Bok Choy, Chilli and Garlic... I ordered additional serving of Jasmine rice to go with it. It was mild yet flavorful. With all my favourite veggies and paneer, I would have expected some extra paneer, nonetheless the veggies complemented the overall recipe. It was a delight to relish it all
Lungo Coffee: they said it's a milder long brewed cup of pure black magic. But it was the drink of the devil 😈... Super strong even for someone like me who loves his coffee really strong. I had to get it diluted further. And I think the effect of coffee is gonna be on me for at least the next 10 hrs... 😁😁😁 Again, crisp, aromatic and lovely nutty flavour.
I'm definitely going to come soon to try other delicacies on the menu.
Ambience: elegant and chic. Very modern yet has a rustic charm. They have 3 levels. Ground floor and upper floor (both having inside and outside garden seating) and roof top with balcony-esque style seating as well. Aesthetic furniture, murals, wallpaper/paintings depicting some nice Khmer related artefacts. Again very pleasing to eyes and comfortable at the same time
Service: impeccable. I didn't feel left out at any point of time. At the same time they let me enjoy my food at leisure and were also always immediately available just at the beck of a call. Special shout out to Christopher and the floor manager Om. Thank...
Read moreI had been to Khmer's kitchen yesterday (02-Jul-2025) to celebrate my wife's birthday, planning it as a premium food and hospitality experience. What i had imagined as a premium experience fizzled out when one specific dish that i ordered was served- Chicken Satay (Sambal marinated). The meat was first served cold which on complaining was re heated and served (microwave heated). On bringing this to the attention of the service attendant showing the meat and demonstrating that it was rubbery/ hard (hard to cut with a fork and even not piercing through the cooked meat). Even on highlighting that the grilled meat (satay) has to be succulent as per what was mentioned on their menu, the waiter went on justifying that the satay is hard only etc. At last, i told them to bill it if need be and that i was not ready to have the dish as it was risky considering the meat quality and the fact that it was stored/ reheated and served. While they were ready to replace the same, i did not want to have it as the first experience was bad which they failed to understand with umpteen statements and exchanges. Finally after a long conversation, the item was cancelled.
The other dishes ordered including the dimsum platter, Buddha bowl (Ramen), Chilli garlic Veg noodles and Burnt garlic fried rice were good with no complaints.
The management needs to look into service aspects and of course the manpower that they contract to serve. While the lady was polite, she failed to even ask if she has to serve the fried rice after delivering it to the table. I was waiting for her to serve but she left after placing the bowl on the table which was quite disappointing considering this is a so called 'Premium dining joint'. The restaurant manager can verify what i have told above from the CCTV recordings (if available).
Lastly, i was overcharged INR 110 on the bill which after bringing to the attention of the service attendant was altered by hand and changed. I had requested them to add extra veggies in the noodles to which the waiter notified an extra charge which i consented for but charging the same twice on the bill is unwarranted. Is this the premium service?
With this bad service experience, i'm never going back to...
