TLDR; Unhygienic, waste of money, and pathetic food. Upon arrival to the restaurant, the staff will get you seated under the AC and will immediately start serving you plates of starters. While initially impressed by the quick service, our expectations fell drastically after just a few bites of our meal.
The first starter was a sweet corn soup, which was far too thick and quite cold. It came with two tiny pieces of bread, and was perhaps the most painfully average starter I've ever had. Then, the waiter had placed a huge tray of papad in front of us with some dry ice to make it appear luxurious, but the fact is that it was simple fryems that anyone can get from a cheap grocery store. Even their spring rolls were bad. The starters were so oily and unhealthy, which we did not expect from a pure veg restaurant. They also left us with a rather full feeling, which makes us suspicious of the food having some soda in it.
The buffet is advertised to be their specialty, but their variety is pathetic. Every dish has so much ghee to mask the taste of meals without onion and garlic. Their Chinese options were noodles and Manchurian balls with gravy. The Manchurian balls were so salty that I was able to take only one bite of the dish. They tried to create a nice look by giving little servings of lemon rice and pulyogre in tiny pressure cookers that come in cooking playsets for children. It was left open, so it didn't seem very safe to eat, nor very filling.
Indian cuisine is known for having the best veg options, and restaurants like Sattvam claim to serve luxury whilst grabbing your money.
The main course was so disappointing that I ended up eating most of the plate of fryems they had left us earlier. I went to the live counter to get two slices of cheese pizza. The guy behind it didn't seem to know English very well. To my horror, he took the stale looking pizza slice from the display and popped it in the oven, all whilst claiming it was fresh. The point of a live counter is to make the food LIVE, not take a slice off the display, heat it up and hand it to the customer.
For whatever reason, Sattvam has a wider range of sweets than the main course. They had a chocolate fountain, which perhaps was the only nice thing to see in the entire restaurant. Usually, chocolate fountains come with strawberries on the side to enjoy chocolate with, but they had put muskmelon and watermelon instead. Their pastries are just the same as you'd expect, very average. Their Indian sweets were really awful, too. The Gulab Jamun was warm, yet it had such a bad sour taste to it, which made it seem like it was spoiled.
I decided to also try rolled ice cream. However, there were TWO cockroaches near the ice cream area. I somehow gulped down my food after realizing that there must be cockroaches all over the kitchen as well.
This three course meal felt more like going through three levels of torture. The cost of everything for 3 people was almost 3k, which is such ridiculous price for such an average meal. Buffet restaurants like BBQ Nation, ABs, and more will leave you feeling satisfied just with their grills at a lesser price. They offered us pan, but it was very stale and wasn't enjoyable.
Finally, even the waiter was very rude and was standing behind us, waiting to pay and peeking into the phone to see if we have paid or not. Its extremely rude to see other people paying, and we had to ask him to leave until we were done paying. Such common sense is expected from the waiting staff, and seeing it not being followed leaves one feeling angry at the loss of money and lack of good experience.
Other reviews of this restaurant are mostly posted by people attending team dinners or hardcore vegetarians who have only eaten from such restaurants before. Most non-veg serving restaurants are able to serve good quality veg food as well, whereas vegetarian restaurants like to take advantage of the fact that vegetarians have such limited options that they can't possibly complain about the quality of food. Sattvam is one such place, and we'll...
Read moreSattvam, one of the most popular Sattvic Restaurant is hosting a special Shekhawati Food Festival. Chef Aditya and his team have curated a special menu with selection of dishes from the region. Shekhawati, located in North Rajasthan comprises of districts Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Churu and a part of Nagaur & Jaipur. The place is known for some amazing food that comes from their Royal kitchen. I visited the restaurant recently to try the food at the restaurant.
Ambiance The place has an amazing ambiance that's inspired the Jaganath Puri temple. One can see multiple painting on the wall that looks amazing. Soothing music plays in the background that’s perfect while having nice meal. Every table is setup well with Napkins & Cutlery. All napkins have the beautiful logo of Sattvam and the names that's nicely embroidered on cloth.
Food The buffet at Sattvam is elaborate as I mentioned earlier. But imagine identifying specific dishes from Shekhawat region and having a Food Festival & serving it a buffet.
Amuse Bouche Boondi Choorma This dish is full loaded with multiple ingredients that’s slightly sweet, spicy & tangy. It’s the perfect dish to be taken at the start of meal.
Beverage Bel Ka Sharbat, Chandan Ka Sharbat
Both the drinks are unique as they contain some unique ingredients in them. I specially loved the Sandalwood flavored Sharbat, I could feel the aroma of Sandal and it felt very good.
Starters Kacchhe kele ki tikki, Chawal ka dhokla, Mirchi Bada, Kalmi Bada
All the dishes were amazing, but I specially loved the Mirchi Bada. It was a very tasty starter as it had good stuffing and a fresh green chilly piece. The Kacche kele ki tikki had the flavor of raw banana was coming very well along with the other spices added into it. Kalmi Bada was another dish that contains lentils and served like a burfi making it irresistible.
Matthi ki chaat, Premade Dal Baati with aloo bharta The dishes mentioned above are traditional Rajasthani dishes that are just amazing. They are best consumed in hand instead of using cutlery.
Premade Bhujiya ri kadhi kachori We all love the idea of eating Kachori at our local chat places. But what we can get at Sattvam, added with the presentation & richness of ingredients, is hard to find anywhere in the city.
Main Course Dahi Gatta, Sangri, Missi Roti, Baajre ki khichdi with Imlana & Raabdi, Papad Mangodi Pulao, Kheere Ka Raita, Kanji K Pakodi
There are multiple dishes that are also part of the main course making it completely an over-whelming experience. But all along one can notice that the meal does not feel heavy on stomach as its Saattvic.
I had the Missi Roti that was perfectly made along with h Dahi Gatta & Kher Sangri. Baajre Ki Khichdi is also a must try at the Sattvam as it got this unique flavor of Baajra. And it comes topped with ghee that make it yummy treat while eating. The final dish before heading for the desserts that I had was ‘Paapad Mangodi Pulao’. A dish that comes with crisp bites along with the soft papad mixed with rice.
Mithai Taal Makhane ki Kheer, Meethi Mawa Kachori, Rabdi Malpua, Paan Kulfi My favorite among these was the Paan Kulfi that’s very tasty and I ended up eating 2 portions of the dessert.
Final Thoughts This was one of the best meals I have eaten in a long time. There is not a single dish that I could find fault in as it was just perfect in terms of presentation and flavouring. The Shekhawati Food Festival at Sattvam is on until 17-Nov but I am sure people will want it to repeat very soon.
My rating for the place is 5/5 without a aorta of doubt. Rating in other departments. Food – 5/5 Ambiance – 5/5 Drinks – 5/5 Service – 5/5
The price of the buffet at JP Nagar & Sadashivnagar outlets is INR 860 AI. Whereas the same at Whitefield is INR 760 AI as...

Visited the place today for a small family celebration, unfortunately there is dearth of good pure veg restaurants and thought of visiting the place again in hopes of better food.
Now the food and the service has dropped down further. Had to ask them to change the bamboo tableware of all our guests as all of them were soiled and sticky and they were reluctant in doing so.
They were having some Mango festival from 23rd May. Why on earth are you guys serving Mango Momo’s. Peanut chutney had sour taste, most probably bcoz it was few days old.
Mango festival doesn’t mean they should add Mango in everything. Starters were cold, in most of the deserts, they added mango, it became too much overwhelming. Deserts were not up-to the level. Moong dal halwa was more like aate ka halwa, boondi and rabbdi was dry as hell and devoid of any taste. Every desert had a good portion of mango which was not fresh. Most probably canned Mango puree.
Biryani, dal makhni along with Chocolate cake were the only saving grace.
At a price of 980 per person, this is definitely not worth it, better to go to Leela Palace, ITC, Taj etc for La carte. It costs a bit more but the food and experience is far far superior.
Update 2/11/2023: In these last 2 years, have been to Sattvam almost 8-10 times. I have reduced 1 star because of the food and the money they are charging. Food is same old, no new items are introduced in these last 8-10 visits, and small changes in the menu made is not that attractive. At 980 per person on weekends, it’s way to pricey. I mean you name the place Sattvam and charge for luxury item. Around 650-700 should be the price of the buffet.
They have recently started giving Mediterranean plate, Hamas is bland and tasteless, they don’t add olive oil in that. Pita bread is cold and it’s just small round flat bread. Original Pita bread is noway near to what they serve.
Have started offering cold drinks at 150, what value are they adding to cold drinks that they charge 150 for that and its all chemicals, and what is so Sattvic about it.
When asked if they serve tea, the chef said, it doesn’t come under Sattvic food, I think the chef was high, you are serving Pizza, pasta, several types of cakes, muffins, pastries, ice cream, cold drinks, chats. Does those items fall in Sattvic food category. Just could have said that they don’t have, simple.
Once saw kids dipping muffins and fruits in chocolate fountain and licking it and they continued it for a number of times. After that I stopped using chocolate fountain.
Unfortunately veg food buffet are very limited in Bangalore, either Sattvam or Sai Vishram. Both of them have increased the prices in last 2 years and food is ok. Looking for an alternate now.
For ppl who haven’t tried, they will like the food, but ppl who have visited multiple times, may not enjoy that much.
Previous review (2021) The buffet is one of the best in Bangalore with so many options that you will need multiple visits to taste all the cuisines. The food was amazing. Starters were good with 6 diff kind of kababs and panner items and had chat and live dosa, Italian (3 diff pasta and 2 pizzas) and Stone ice cream counters and chocolate fountain. Biryani was amazing but only problem was beans used were not that great. Kali mirch panner was really soft and had really good flavor. They had so many desserts and everything was exquisite. Ambience could have been better and service was not on point, also price is a bit on the higher side. Yesterday they raised it from Rs 730 to Rs 760. But we enjoyed our dinner and would...
