We visited Nakkshatra restaurant on June 6th afternoon (1:50 pm), and got a table reserved for a family of 6. We were hoping to dine in at Nagarjuna, but owing to the fact they don't serve alcohol beverages, we had to chose this place. At the time of placing order the staff was not very welcoming and sounded reluctant to attend to us. We had a gentleman (Mr. Ramesh), the restaurant captain who assisted us in deciding on our drinks, starters and placed order. While most of our drinks were very basic (2 mocktails & 1 cocktail), they still took 40 mins to get our first drink. All the time the bartenders were busy posing for a shoot (assuming it was for their advertisements & promotions), several retakes/ laughter etc. Furthermore, this delayed getting rest of our orders. Upon following up with the waiter/captain couple times patiently, he didn't bother to approach the bartenders to remind them, but kept assuring us instead that it won't take longer than it already was (so ridiculous), and stood there doing nothing. We even requested them to take our following orders proactively to avoid further delay as the time was 3:15 pm already (everyone was hungry), but to our surprise the waiter refused outright saying "he cannot promise giving us anything, anymore, anytime sooner" although the restaurant hardly had any other customers dining in at that time. This clearly showed that the restaurant is not customer centric by any means!! There were customers from other table who argued and left the place before us canceling their order upon experiencing the staff's bad attitude.
It has been a very unpleasant experience to say the least as we had a special occasion to celebrate (mom's birthday) and left the place with great disappointment. All thanks to their staff for ruining our special day remorselessly!!
Then we decided to dine in at Nagarjuna restaurant and their service was truly commendable!! The staff that served us here not only were professional, but showed empathy since they realized what we had experienced a moment earlier in the neighboring restaurant and gave us special attention to ensure we dined happily. It seems like both places are run by the same owner.
I would never recommend Nakkshatra restaurant to anybody in my close...
Read moreWifey and I headed out for a quick lunch date and decided upon Nagarjuna outlet in Marathahalli. But after realising that there is a minimum 20-30 min wait, we just popped into Nakkshatra, the fine dine sibling from the Nagarjuna group, that was moderately empty. After reconfirming that we will also be served the Nagarjuna menu, we got seated and ordered-in a Andhra Chicken Biryani, Andhra (green) Chili Chicken, with a crispy fish from their far east menu, and a Tandoori Chicken from their North West Frontier section of the menu. The crispy fish was not so crispy, as it was drenched in a delicious sauce, and hence just a mild crunch, but tasty. It was the standard basa filets, tossed in a spicy sauce, that was really good. The Andhra style chicken biryani might look nearly white, but the spice and flavour is simply great. I always loved this biryani style, unlike the hugely popular (and my another favourite) Hyderabadi Dum Biryani. Loved the biryani, especially with a side of the green chili chicken that hit the roof with the level of heat, yet loved it thoroughly and enjoyed it fully. The Tandoori Chicken was another stunner, surprisingly, packed in a lot of flavours, but slightly more spicy yet retaining the smoky flavour of an authentic version, highly recommended.
As a Tamilian tradition, we always end our biryani with a small portion of rice and rasam and also that we were feeling like it, we ordered a portion of steamed rice and some spicy rasam, and an omelette to go with. The hot spicy rasam with a bit of green chili chicken, and that fluffy omelette was a match made in foodie heaven, it was pure indulgence for the soul.
Nearly full, we did ask for a portion of gajar ka halwa, which was a decent sweet south Indian version, made with regular orange carrots as opposed to the authentic dark long variety, yet it was difficult to stop with just one spoon.
Must mention the service, the staff were extremely courteous, willing to accomodate, and attentive toward what we needed, always.
A great place offering variations from North and South Indian Andhra cuisine, with a delicious menu of pan asian too, we are already making plans to visit them for a family celebration shortly #apjprecommends do visit them and share...
