For those people who is looking for Malaysian food in Chennai this the best place you have to land up, this place is surely a roller coaster for Malaysian food they offer winter soup to Asian grills to sambal to chendol to ais kasang.
Nasi and mee is located at one of the hot pick place in chennai ” Still wondering where it is ? ” its everyone’s favorite khader nawaz khan road, Nasi N mee is quite easy to find with attractive name board and eye catching lights will attract you for sure.
Let me share my experience about Nasi N Mee
Been so curious to try Malaysian food i just went to this place for a dinner, the moment i entered they invited me properly and gave me a seat just loved the way how they treated me.
The moment i got the comfy comfy seat i started to admire the ambience of this place!! It was quite calm wasnt much crowded on that time, i just loved their wall painting of a freaky Asian guy having a long sticky noodles took some nice clicks.
Okiess im impressed with the ambience how about the food ?
Drinks:
Chendol,Milo shake & ABC
Chendol:
Chendol is one of the Malaysian’s favorite desserts, i was quite excited to try it, the moment i had the first sip i could easy feel the coconut milk flavor, they served it with the sliced ice with coconut milk with red beans.
They dulcified it with plam sugar n jaggary instead of sugar, it is the best nectarous healthy drink which you should try it here.
Milo Shake :
Milo Shake just shakes my childhood memories, my mom used to prepare it wow, They served it sliced ice cube and milo milkshake just loved it.
ABC:
Healthy shake for health freaks it contains apple, beetroot & carrot, best fusion still i dint like it. It gave me unpleasant after taste.
Soup:
Chicken winter melon soup:
Best clear soup i ever had, its contains pumpkins and chicken with spinach, you will be able to feel the how delicious the soup is, its will make you to have a snip one after another.
Chatuchak Chicken Wings:
Its not a ordinary chicken wings, this one is a stuffed chicken wings. its was so crunchy outside and juice inside, you will be able to sense the refreshment feel in each and every bite.
Refreshment feel ? in chicken ? how come ?
They stuff the chicken with mint and lemon grass, which makes them the scrumptious chicken wings.
Sambal Prawns
Sambal prawns is a one bite wonder you would love to have it. Prawn was fresh and they have marinated it properly, its was so delicious and crunchy. Still it would have been better if they add up little spiciness in it.
Steamed Fish Cantonese Style:
One of the best dish in Nasi and Mee
The way they presented the food its was so appealing, lemon grass decoration gave them the luxury feel,
Fish was so soft it will melt in your mouth forget about chewing, its was so delicious it just made my day, Perfect in all its way. kindly have it with white rice, must try.
Pad Thai:
An unique Malaysian noodles made out of rice sticks, its was quite different loved it, not too spicy its was mild and taste was average.
Gravy:
Bak Choy , Ayam Pongteh & Chicken Rendang:
I personally felt Chicken Rendang was damn good, its kind of taste like the chicken stew since they have cooked with coconut milk, its was perfect with jasmine rice.
Desserts:
Finally my Favorite part ” Ais Kacang ”
Ais kacang was wonderful, its a Malaysians ambrosial dessert served with red beans, creamy corn, waterchestnut with shaved ice, shaved ice was dulcified with flavored syrup. its a serve for two which you can enjoy it with your friend.

Read moreFor the longest time, Bangalore had nothing approaching authentic Straits Cuisine (Chinese, Japanese and Chin-Indian places of varying quality notwithstanding). So it was with something close to delight that I found out that Nasi and Mee (N&M) had opened up in Koramangala. Delight and not a little trepidation, since a) I was taking two Malaysian colleagues (homesick for Ipoh's Wooley's Food Court) there for some comfort food and b) claims of authenticity are notoriously easy to make and hard to fulfil.
I shouldn't have worried: N&M delivered. It is by far the most authentic "Asian" restaurant you'll get outside of a five star hotel (and one-ups even them with the variety of cuisines offered under one roof). I won't go into detail over the various starters and "regular" mains (all of which were good) but instead will focus on what should be N&M's USP: South East Asian "street food".
• The Pad Thai: very well put together, rich and spicy. The only minor flaw were the slightly sticky noodles (which either hadn't been cold soaked or were not sen lek). • Nasi lemak: a top notch version (by far the best in Bangalore) with rice so fragrant and ikan bilis so crispy I could forgive the apparent lack of pandan leaf and slightly anaemic sambal. • Beef rendang: a faithful rendang rendition but with slightly tough meat (understandable given the inconsistent quality of meat available locally). • Nasi goreng: the standout among some already great dishes, it was packed with flavour, redolent with belacan and thankfully free of the mushy quality sometimes seen in other places.
The decor does nothing to distract from the food: it's bright, clean and simple with no attempts at wasting space with random kitsch (though the hard chairs can be a bit unforgiving) and the restroom is immaculate. The only major issue was a surprising one: the attitude of the senior staff. Not the servers themselves (who were always pleasant and helpful if slightly confused) but what appeared to be management. Twice out of the three times I have gone to N&M, I've seen senior staff members respond to innocent queries and comments from adjacent tables with a mix of petulance and passive-aggression, that's as puzzling as it is unnecessary. An elderly couple's question about mineral water prices was met with a long patronising lecture on the trials faced by Bangalore restaurants and ended with the staff member stomping off in a mini-tantrum.
I can understand the stress that must be involved in maintaining authenticity and the emotional (and financial) investment that requires. That being said, I hope N&M's management (who seem to actively follow reviews here) realise that culinary chips-on-shoulders have unnecessarily side-lined too many otherwise good restaurants in Bangalore already and their excellent food (and otherwise good table service) shouldn’t be scuttled by avoidable attitude.
Such (hopefully rare) outbursts aside, if you're looking for an authentic Straits cuisine experience at a reasonable price, I can whole heartedly recommend Nasi & Mee.
Recommendations: • Nasi goreng • Nasi lemak • Beef tenderloin • Coconut soda • Lychee & lime • Fried Ice-cream
Metrics: • Time taken for Starters: 10 min • Time taken for...
Read moreBeware of Hidden Service Charges at Nasi and Mee Restaurant, Bengaluru
I'm sharing my disappointing experience at Nasi and Mee Restaurant, Koramangala Layout, Bengaluru, on Sunday, 24th November 2024. Our group of ten was billed ₹ 7895, which included a 10% service charge (₹ 684) and 5% GST thereon (₹ 34) totalling to ₹ 718. Unknown to me, the service charge was optional, and I had already paid additional tips.
The Issue: The restaurant did not inform me that the service charge was optional. They included it in the bill without disclosure. This practice is a clear violation of consumer rights.
The Resolution: After confronting the Restaurant Manager, I received a cash refund of ₹ 718. However, this experience highlights the need for awareness and vigilance.
The Warning: Nasi and Mee Restaurant makes an additional 10.05% profit by including service charges in the bill. This practice is unfair and amounts to daylight robbery.
The Call to Action: Be aware of hidden service charges. Refuse to pay service charges if not explicitly disclosed. Raise complaints with the concerned authorities.
Attached is the bill for reference.
Please share your experiences and spread awareness to protect consumer rights!
Following is my response after receiving the reply from the Manager.
The owner responded with a false narrative and half truth in his reply.
Neither the waiters nor the Manager informed us of 10% Service charge when the bill was presented to us for payment.
We ourselves discovered the service charge in bill that evening and we questioned the team at the restaurant and only then they refunded us ₹ 718. And if we had not questioned them they would have got a lottery of ₹ 718. That's the truth.
See the three new attachments which I have added in my review. These expressly prohibit adding service charge in the bill by default. They have to ask the customer before adding service charge in the bill. In this case they did not seek my prior permission to add service charge...
