Natraj Chole Bhature in Indiranagar is the talk of the town when it comes to their Chole Bhature. They claim to serve the asli Dilli style chole bhature in namma Bengaluru. While I am no expert in judging what a asli Dilli style chole bhature means, but I have had my share of chole bhature in a few street food outlets in Delhi, as well in Haldirams. One Saturday afternoon, we braved the drive from Whitefield to Indiranagar and picked up a couple of plates of Chole Bhature from Natraj. Though the place is very open plan, the crowd was picking up so decided to take the food and dine in the car.
What I loved was the super soft, hot, fluffy bhature, with a generous sprinkling of paneer inside, and the chole was beautifully cooked with mild subdued spices and great flavors. The onion salad with chutney and a couple of freshly pickled gooseberries (amla) on top was just perfect and made the meal more than delightful.
The lassi was absolutely great, it was not your typical, thick, creamy lassi. It was a light version, thin, nice and sweet, without an overpowering sourness and perfect to my liking.
I found both the gulab jamoon and the gajar ka halwa to my liking, not too sweet, very well balanced desserts that you can enjoy after a wonderful meal.
I did try the samosa, a good Punjabi samosa with beautiful filling of mashed potatoes and an overload of green peas, with good subdued flavors.
What I would have preferred is a little more heat in the chole, it was not spicy as I was used to, not just in Delhi but other places across India. Thanks to the green chilies served alongside, it was a savior to someone like me, who likes a little more heat in my food.
We were a family of three, ordered two full portions of Chole Bhature and it was more than sufficient, I was quite full by just having 1.5 bhature that I could not finish my lassi.
Overall a great place to dine-in, very affordable, our two full plates of chole bhature, gulab jamoon, gajar ka halwa, samosa, and a portion of lassi, came less than 400 rupees, definitely recommend if you are not too keen on a spicy chole.
I also heard that this outlet is totally non-related to the outlets that sell Chole Bhature in Delhi by...
Read moreI recently had the chance to try out Natraj Chole Bhature, and my experience was a bit of a mixed bag. As a South Indian, I might not be the best judge of North Indian cuisine, but I'll share my thoughts on various aspects. Let's start with the taste. The Chole Bhature were decent, but I found them to be just okay. I believe this might be due to my personal preference as a South Indian, and I acknowledge that North Indian food enthusiasts might appreciate the taste more than I did.
One aspect that did leave me a bit disappointed was the pricing. Unfortunately, I found the prices to be on the higher side and not exactly budget-friendly. Given the taste and portion sizes, I was hoping for better value for money.
The seating arrangement was another point worth mentioning. There is a space to sit and eat, which is a plus. However, the setup is more of a self-service style with a few benches available. This means you'll likely need to eat while standing, which might not be the most comfortable experience for some.
On the positive side, the service I received was good. The staff was attentive and responsive, making the dining experience smoother. They accept various payment methods including cards, UPI, and cash, which is convenient for patrons.
In terms of hygiene, I had no complaints. The place seemed clean, and that's definitely a crucial factor when it comes to dining out.
In conclusion, Natraj Chole Bhature might be a hit among North Indian food aficionados, but as someone more accustomed to South Indian flavors, my personal experience was just average. While the service and hygiene were commendable, the pricing and seating arrangement left something to be desired. If you're a fan of North Indian cuisine and don't mind the standing setup, it might be worth a try for you.
Remember, tastes can vary widely, so take my review with a grain of salt, or should I say, a pinch...
Read moreI recently visited Natraj Chhole Bhature in Indiranagar, and while my overall experience was decent, there were certain aspects that left me feeling underwhelmed.
First and foremost, the ambience of the restaurant was nothing extraordinary. It had a simple and basic setup, lacking any unique or memorable elements. Although cleanliness was maintained, the seating arrangements felt a bit cramped, making it somewhat uncomfortable for a relaxed dining experience.
Moving on to the food, I ordered their signature dish, Chhole Bhature. The presentation was average, and the portion size was satisfactory. However, I found the taste to be just okay. The bhature lacked the fluffiness I was expecting, and the chhole gravy was decent but lacked the depth of flavors I've experienced in other places. It was not bad by any means, but it didn't stand out either.
Service-wise, the staff was friendly and courteous, but the overall efficiency could be improved. There were times when it took longer than expected for my order to arrive, and I had to remind them a couple of times. It would be great if they could work on streamlining their service to ensure a smoother and faster dining experience for customers.
On the positive side, the pricing was reasonable, providing value for money considering the portion sizes. Also, the restaurant was quite clean, and hygiene standards were maintained, which is always a plus.
In conclusion, Natraj Chhole Bhature in Indiranagar has the potential to be a great place for a quick and satisfying meal. However, improvements in the overall taste of their signature dish, as well as faster and more efficient service, would greatly enhance the dining experience. While it may not be my top choice for Chhole Bhature in the area, it still offers an average experience that might appeal to those looking for a decent meal without high...
