To the Management of Paper Pie, โAs an international founder visiting from the United States, I am accustomed to leveraging cafรฉs as productive workspaces globally. Upon my arrival in Bengaluru, Paper and Pie in Indiranagar quickly became my preferred location for this purpose. The atmosphere is generally conducive to focus, and I have consistently found the female members of your staff to be exceptionally warm, professional, and welcoming. โUnfortunately, this positive perception was shattered by a deeply unprofessional and humiliating experience I endured today. โThis afternoon, while in a state of deep work, I was abruptly confronted by a male barista wearing an olive apron. He approached my table not with an inquiry, but with a stern, judgmental expression and an immediate, baseless accusation. He publicly demanded that I "order something right now," operating under the erroneous assumption that I was occupying the table without having made a purchase. โI calmly explained that I had purchased a coffee at the counter upon my arrival, as is my habit. My explanation was met with dismissal. He insisted that his system showed no order from my tableโa clear flaw in his understanding that not all orders originate via a QR codeโand reiterated that I must either place a new order immediately or leave the premises. โThe situation escalated to the point where, in order to end the public confrontation and validate my legitimacy as a paying customer, I was forced to open my American Express mobile application and display the transaction record for my coffee. To be compelled to produce a bank statement to justify my presence is, frankly, appalling. โWhat makes this incident particularly disturbing is that this aggressive scrutiny was directed solely at me. I observed no other patrons being subjected to this interrogation, which made the experience feel not just unprofessional, but discriminatory. โFor an establishment located in a vibrant entrepreneurial hub like Indiranagar, which naturally attracts a clientele of founders and professionals, this type of service failure is unacceptable. We seek out establishments like Paper and Pie to be sanctuaries of productivity, not stages for public shaming by untrained and presumptuous staff. โThis single encounter has completely undermined my trust in your establishment. It is with significant disappointment that I must state I will no longer be patronizing Paper and Pie, and I will be advising my extensive network of founders and colleagues in the Bengaluru tech community to be vary of this place. This was a severe lapse in customer service and professional conduct. Unacceptable.
โSincerely, โA...
ย ย ย Read morePaper & Pie is a swanky cafe on 100 ft road bang opposite to Truffles, Indra Nagar. It's easy to find and you can reach it by taking the metro till CMH road too. The ambiance is nice. We went there on a holiday so there was a good rush and most of the tables were taken. Luckily we found a small table on the first floor and seated ourselves. After enquiring we scanned for the menu and then again enquired if we could pay in cash rather than card/UPI. We were asked to go down to pay in cash first even before we were served food. A little surprised, we asked why they were billing before serving food as the customer may want to order something more or add to the order and for that they would want the customer to climb down the stairs again to do the same. The staff didn't have any answer except the standard - this is the process we have ! Didn't understand the logic as it's a fancy cafe and billing after serving meals like other cafes/ restaurants would be better off. Anyways, coming to the food. Had been hearing about this cafe for a while so had high hopes from it. The food didn't wow us. We ordered a grilled chicken burger which came only with a green salad and was was a total let down ๐ The chicken patty was dry with hardly any Mayo or sauce and there was nothing great about it. It could have had a portion of fries which is usually served at other good cafes/ restaurants. We ordered the Aglio olio spaghetti with roasted chicken and that was just about ok. It was served with one piece of garlic bread. We ordered roasted chicken steak and that was okay. It was served with a small portion of mashed potatoes. The best among all the mains we tried was the Teriyaki chicken meal bowl. Teriyaki chicken served with flavoured rice. For dessert we tried the Lemon and chia seeds cake and yule log cake. Both were just about average, nothing that will make me go back to have again. Hazelnut cold coffee was ok. It's nothing like the hype created around it. Price is on the higher side keeping the fancy ambiance in mind but food disappoints and portion is small for the price charged ! I'd rather go to Cafe Rome in Kalyan nagar for their delectable desserts and...
ย ย ย Read moreVisited this Indiranagar branch of paper and pie on a saturday afternoon.Surprisingly It has all the necessary amenities to provide a good working environment unlike the one in whitefield area. There are different seating arrangements available in this two-story building, including high chairs, sofas, couches, and more. It is equipped with a conference room and recording studio for the podcasts. The cafe's minimalist interiors create a relaxing atmosphere. The beige theme of the cafe gives soothing vibes. The washroom is well lit for some washroom mirror selfies and itโs really maintained well, clean and hygienic.
The cafe was already crowded by noon because of Saturday and the hot weather in Bangalore, but we managed to get a table on the first floor, table number 09. Although there was a QR code on the table for ordering, we opted to order at the counter since we were old school, which is located on the ground floor. But decided to keep our bags on the table so that no one could occupy it(huh.. Once again being so old school). Being a pure vegetarian, the menu was quite disappointing. The vegetarian section is very limited, after going through the entire menu twice, I settled down for the caesar salad (veg) and my friends decided to go for cold brew drinks. We wanted something crispy, salty and fried along with our order, unfortunately there wasn't anything on the menu. The cold brews and Caesar salad finally arrived after a considerable amount of waiting time.
The Caesar salad looked great, it was presented like a pastry with a crunch on top of it, but it did disappoint in terms of ingredients. The black olives were missing, only a few cherry tomatoes were there apart from the lettuce, the dressing was too watery, but overall it tasted good.
The cold brews appeared to be good but my friends couldnโt finish it, so I assumed it wasn't a good choice to order. Finally after spending some decent amount of time, we...
