If your taste buds are craving a variety of authentic and scrumptious Kerala dishes then you must not miss the restaurant Chef Pillai (CP).I have visited this restaurant twice to sample their lunch and dinner, as it has been on my list for a long time.
► Menu:
The menu focuses primarily on traditional Kerala cuisine. The menu card features an assortment of hand-selected traditional Kerala dishes categorized as Appetizers, Main Course (Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian), Short Eats (Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian), Desserts, and Signature dishes. In addition, the menu card includes a few other carefully selected Tamil Nadu-style dishes. The signature section of the Menu card lists the restaurant's signature and most popular dishes, such as Nikkah Chicken Biriyani (available only for lunch), Chef Pillai's Fish Nirvana (Seer Fish, Pomfret/Karimeen (Pearl spot), and Paneer. As the majority of the dishes are listed in Malayalam and Tamil, a detailed description of each dish is provided.
► Ambience and Decor:
The location is spotless and well-kept. There is a dedicated juice section to the right of the entrance. The restaurant is multistoried with ample seating arrangements spread across both ground and first floors.
They predominantly play new and old hit songs from Malayalam films. The walls of the ground floor are adorned with photo frames of Suresh Pillai sir posing with various celebrities, such as Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Chris Gayle, Mohanlal, Ravi Shashtri, Dileep, Tini Tom, etc., as well as snippets of news articles about Chef Pillai that had been published over the years. The kitchen area is open. You will have the opportunity to observe their kitchen and its activities.
The place is extremely crowded on the weekends, making it difficult to find a seat when you arrive. You may be required to wait a while for your turn. They also offer weekend reservation in advance.
► Customer Engagement:
Their hospitality was great. Staffs were courteous and friendly. They are knowledgeable in recommending the best possible pairings. The service was swift and timely. I was not required to wait for my orders to be delivered to the table.

During my multiple visits, I tried their :
Appams - Rs 30 per piece Fish Nirvana (Seer Fish) - Rs 800 Malabar Nool Porotta - Rs 40 per piece Kollam Aattirachi Curry - Rs 600 Palada Cheese Cake (Dessert) - Rs 225 Vattalappam (Dessert) - Rs 225 Nikkah Chicken Biriyani (Lunch only) - Rs 450
The majority of desserts are priced at approximately Rs 225. Their fish Nirvana is the restaurant's primary drawcard. The restaurant is renowned for its fish nirvana, which is also the most popular dish. Appam and Fish Nirvana is the best and most lethal combination available. The fish nirvana is beautifully presented and wrapped in a banana leaf. It contains one large piece of perfectly fried fish blended with gravy. Gravy is the main reason contributing to its flavor. Their Biryani too was amazing.
I tried their Nool Parotta and Kollam Aattirachi Curry for supper ( Kollam style Mutton Curry). This combination was incredible, and the flavor was exquisite. The dishes were served expeditiously. The Aattirachi curry contained decently sized pieces of mutton, and its flavor was exquisite, with just the right amount of spice. The nool parotta was served fresh and was still warm when it arrived at the table.
I greatly enjoyed their Vattalappam dessert. Alongside Palada cheesecake, it is one of the primary desserts available at this restaurant. Vattalappam is the most selling dish in the desserts section. The combination of coconut milk and jaggery is utilized in this Sri Lankan-style preparation. The presentation of the dessert was impressive and it was embellished with creams in the form of a spiral along with the beads. The palada cheesecake was also delicious.

Despite a slight delay in serving due to a rush and a power cut, the staff made sure to keep us informed and ensured that our food was served without any significant inconvenience.
Now let's talk about the highlight of the evening—the food. The dishes we ordered were nothing short of amazing. To begin with, the alu tikki chat, which was a complementary dish from the chef, set the tone for a delightful culinary journey. The flavors and textures of each component came together harmoniously, leaving a lasting impression.
The Silver Gold lamb soup was a true delight, with its rich and flavorful broth that warmed both the body and soul. The Nirvana butter chicken, a classic favorite, did not disappoint. The creamy and flavorful sauce coated the succulent pieces of chicken, making it an absolute pleasure to savor.
For those craving biryani, the kukad ki dum biryani was a revelation. The aromatic flavors of the perfectly cooked rice and tender chicken left us craving for more.
To end the meal on a sweet note, we indulged in the limoncello jalebi meel foy, a unique and refreshing dessert that combined traditional Indian flavors with a modern twist. The presentation of the dish was stunning, and the taste matched its visual appeal.
