Tried Korean food here for the first time..my review is as follows: Pros: 1. Very polite staff, we arrived at a very short notice of 20 minutes so we made reservations on a call. I recommend making reservations to avoid any seating issues. The staff was welcoming and kind. They are quick to come as soon as you press the bell for any help. 2. Amazing food!- we got complimentary pancake- 5/5, cheesecake-4/5, sweet potato jelly kinda thing- 5/5 and cinnamon tea-5/5. Side dishes- they served soya sauce dipped potatoes, pickled cucumber+onions, pickled soya chunks and beetroot and kimchi. Delightful and fresh! You can also ask for refills. We ordered: Japche -5/5 (Absolutely delicious!! I tried it for the first time and loved it! So happy and the quantity was also good!โค๏ธ) Tofu chim-4/5 (I loved the texture and taste of the soup...it had generous pieces of tofu and they served it with rice.) The best part was that they served a bowl of extra soup as Japche was a dry food without any liquids. Very happy with their hospitality and service. They are mindful of their customers. 3. Ambience- they clarify and confirm if you will be having barbeque or not as the seating table is different. The ambience is great and has an authentic korean drama vibe๐Ÿ˜‚. They have a TV which has BTS videos on and we sat on the table infront of TV so it was us, the amazing food and BTS!โค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚ Cons: 1. Price- the price is on the higher side and is the same for any dish you order despite the quantity. We paid 820 for 2 dishes each. It is expensive compared to other korean restaurants. 2. Veg options- Very limited options specially if you don't even eat eggs..like us. 3. Menu- The menu does not have prices as they have 1-price-all-dishes policy also there is no clear mention of what items are veg or non veg. Overall it was a great experience and i would definitely bring my friends and family to taste the Japche! Thank you.

Amidst the shining restaurant signboards in Indiranagar, there is the old-school signboard of Soo Ra Sang. If you don't look for it, you will surely miss it. We went there for dinner on a Wednesday night. It's a 21-year-old Korean eatery that is as authentic as you can get in Bengaluru. Sadly, though it has been 2 years in the city for me, I had no idea about its presence till we went there. The seating arrangement is traditional, with a barbecue at every table for live preparation. The meal started with the pancake appetiser. If you opt for the barbecue, you have to order 2 minimum dishes โ€” we ordered chicken and pork. Both were amazing. The second appetiser was an omelette, which was brilliant. Sadly, I forgot the name. Then came the Bibimbap, which was at another level of deliciousness. We ended our meal with their homemade cheesecake and Su Jeong Gwa, which is a traditional Korean tea made of Cinnamon, Ginger, and Pepper extracts. I was just glad that in Bangalore, we have found a Korean place where we can easily go in without worrying about how the food and ambience would be. Highly, highly recommended for anyone looking for Korean cuisine or wanting to explore a new place. P.S.: We had a lovely chat with Aunt Yong (I hope I am spelling it right), the owner, on her journey with this Soo Ra Sang and, most importantly, life in general. She also showed us the way to eat the food so that we get the best taste.

It's a little hard to find, since there's just a signboard with the name of the restaurant, but once you enter the Olive hotel, they'll inform you of the floor where the restaurant is. It's a good restaurant to try signature Korean cuisine. We had the KBBQ (of course as you should) in chicken, pork and beef, seafood Japchae (technically prawns, though there wasn't a lot of it but it tasted flavorful and spicy, which is unlike other Japchae I've had), a pork dish mixed with gochujang (apologies, i forgot the Korean name of it but it went so so well with rice please try it), kimbap and bibimbap, with unlimited refills of banchan (the pickled radish and the kimchi were our faves) They give you bite-sized cheesecake pieces as well for dessert, which is complimentary and a nice end to the meal! The servers are helpful, though i feel the owner aunty could be a little more accommodating to what people want to eat. I do understand where she is coming from in terms of her recommendations, but do let the people order what they want ๐Ÿ˜… but this is just a minor remark though, overall, she's very passionate about her food and her establishment, and it is important that we as consumers respect that space for what it is.

summary = owner is racist

Already my first impression of this place was that it was mediocre/low quality. For ex, kimbap in Korea is usually between 1,500 won and 3,000 won (90 ~ 180 rupees), but here, it is 12,000 won (710 rupees). This place is even more expensive than other Korean restaurants in Bengaluru. However, after this experience, I realised that the real problem is that the owner is extremely racist. I went here with my Indian friend.From what I heard, the owner seemed like a rude person. I thought maybe it could have been some misunderstanding due to cultural difference. When I entered the restaurant, a pompous Korean lady (the owner) was conversing with another Korean lady. We were seated at a table near them. My friend needed to use the bathroom, which was locked, so she asked the owner for the key, which the owner readily gave. While my friend was in the bathroom, I overheard the owner tell the other Korean woman in Korean, "Indians are so dirty, I try to avoid even touching them..." I was shocked and turned around. The owner then realised I was Korean too. When I confronted her about what she said, she tried to excuse herself by saying "I didn't say Indians, I said Tibetans are very dirty." I was furious and asked them to cancel my order. The moment my friend came out of the bathroom, I grabbed her and walked out.

When I went to a Korean restaurant called 'thran', the service was satisfactory. Also, the owner When I went to a Korean restaurant called 'arirang' I did not see at least the unpleasant behavior of the owner.

RACIST owner! On my first visit here, I found the owner a bit rude, which I ignored because maybe it was just her personality and I was here for the food anyway. The food was decent, overpriced. On my second visit, I realised the owner had a bigger issue: Racism! This time, I brought my Korean friend along. He sat opposite me, so the owner didn't see that he was Korean too. I asked the owner for the key to the bathroom, as they keep it locked. While I was in the bathroom, my friend overheard the owner telling her friend in Korean, "Indians are so dirty, I try to avoid even touching them..." Before she could finish, my friend turned over and confronted her. And she tried to excuse herself by saying, "Are you sure you heard Indians? I meant to say that Tibetans are so dirty!" My friend was beyond furious and the moment I came out of the bathroom, he just asked me to walk out with him.

As if insulting one community wasn't enough, she is insulting two. This is such shameful behavior, especially considering that this is how she sees some of her customers. She wouldnt touch Indians but she definitely has no problem touching Indian money! I would never go here again, and I believe any self respecting Indian or Tibetan wouldn't either. Edit: the owner replied to this comment, since I couldn't reply to her, i will reply here instead - Look, if your food tastes amazing, price isn't even an issue. Arirang serves far better quality food than yours, so their expensive price is justifiable and we enjoy it 100%. The bigger problem is your racism. You say you spent half of your life in India, etc yet you don't have the basic respect for the people here. I've seen how condescendingly you speak to Indians. I know what you said about Indians only because I had someone who understands Korean with me. Otherwise, I would innocently eat your food even while you were insulting me and my community while sititng at a table next to me. If you just took a little time to check your other reviews on Zomato, you'd know that there are so many other people who think you are rude and...

Let me say, I actually want to give 0 โ€œstarsโ€ but thereโ€™s no option like that. Had lunch here yesterday. What was rightโ€ฆmmm I canโ€™t think of anything, really! What was wrong: you enter the restaurant from an abandoned, under construction building. You canโ€™t even see if the lift is working - to be honest, was unsure of entering it (itโ€™s working though) and trudged up 4 floors. When you get there, youโ€™re greeted by sullen faces of the servers. No one smiles. When youโ€™re being seated, youโ€™ve to leave shoes outside the table and turn an axis to get yourself seated. Canโ€™t explain properly. But itโ€™s not comfortable. And youโ€™re told this, mmm rather rudely. Thereโ€™s no air conditioning. Itโ€™s on the rooftop. So itโ€™s rather hot - despite being pleasant in general. On top of that, if you order the barbeque, they need to light the fire on your table. Making it much much warmer, highly uncomfortable. They gave us a cooler which was not effective. And it was throwing the barbeque smoke in my face directly. I changed my place. For which too, itโ€™s not easy, because youโ€™ve to clamber out of your current seat, crawl across to the next one and swivel to be seated.

My view, from the next place I was seated - was empty carton boxes, some floor tiles stacked up, a jhaadoo (broom) with a green handle, pochha (mop) and other cleaning supplies.

The servers remained sullen and impolite throughout the meal. No one was warm or hospitable.

All this is forgiven I guess when you go to a Darshini. Na na. It was a rather overpriced restaurant. The pricing on zomato is old. Each dish is 720 bucks. Our bill was 1318 per person. Without any alcohol. Oh and we didnโ€™t order too many things. The barbeque pork was 80% fat, 20% meat.

And alllllll of this is forgiven if the food is exceptional. It was averageโ€ฆ at best! Or maybe because the rest of the experience was so bad, the food couldnโ€™t make up for it.

Never going again. Even...
