Over a Decade of Dining Delight—
Bangalore Mandarin has been my family’s go-to dining spot for over a decade, and I’ve been coming here since I was a kid. What makes it truly special is its consistency — not once have we been let down by the food, service, or overall experience.
Easily the finest Chinese restaurant in Bangalore, it’s conveniently located on the buzzing 100 ft Road in Indiranagar, just a short 3–5 minute walk from the Indiranagar metro station.
The food here is simply outstanding — every single dish brings something unique to the table. Let’s start with the French fries: perfectly crisp, barely oily, not too salty, and served in generous portions.
When it comes to other appetizers, the chilli and pepper variants of any poultry or seafood dish are a definite must-try. Unlike the typical sweet-spicy profile found in most Chinese places, Mandarin’s dishes have a distinct, unforgettable flavor. The Chicken and Prawns in particular are excellent.
Vegetarians, don’t miss the Sichuan Veg Fried Rice and Sichuan Veg Noodles — both are cooked to perfection with minimal oil, packed with fresh green veggies, and well-balanced seasoning. Pair them with a spicy Thai curry or a semi-dry appetizer and you’re in for a treat.
Drums of Heaven here are incredibly crisp on the outside, yet tender and juicy inside, made with fresh, quality meat.
Portion sizes are generous and totally justify the pricing. I’ve never had a second thought about the bill here — it’s always worth every penny.
Even the beverages stand out! From the zingy fresh lime soda to the delicious Cool Blue Sparkle and the refreshing Mango Intoxication, each drink is perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and wonderfully blended with mint and soda for that ultimate refreshment.
In desserts, to seal the session with something sweet and chill, I usually have the Vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce and nuts. Simply and not too heavy incase one feels a stomach-full.
The service is top-notch — super quick, polite, and professional. The restaurant is always clean, and the ambience is beautiful, with elegant Chinese elements and cozy seating.
Final Verdict: Love this place! If you're in Bangalore, especially near Indiranagar, Bangalore Mandarin is an...
Read moreSummary: Desi Chinese that didn't satisfy my desi Chinese craving. Good portion size, not super heavy on the pocket, nice ambience; but I wouldn't go back again. How is this place 4+ again?
And the Details: A sudden Indian Chinese food craving took us to Bangalore Mandarin. First impressions of the place were nice, well done decor, decently laid out tables - this place looked nicer than what we thought it'll be, considering its the third floor of a fairly missable building by Indiranagar standards.
The menu was fairly large and comprehensive, though a tad stangely designed with the first half dedicated to non-vegetarian faire and the second to vegetarian stuff. If you're not a fan of the meats - you may be a tad surprised to not find anything you can eat until you flip a lot of pages!
What we ordered: Veg Burnt Garlic Soup, Veg Spring Rolls, Hunan Chicken, Chicken Steamed Wontons with Burnt Garlic, Veg Balls in Manchurian Sauce.
The soup was interesting to say the least - burnt garlic topping up spicy hot & sour soup. The overpowering taste may get to you if you're not a strong flavours person. The spring rolls were just about okay - not as crunchy as I expected, but the filling - aah. Only cabbage and a bit of other veggies, but they were so far and few I couldn't figure which ones made their way in. So disappointing. (Someone on the table: "I remember my mother making better spring rolls, and she couldn't cook anything chinese") The wontons were the highight of the meal - very thin outer layer, nice juicy chicken stuffing topping off with declicious soy sauce and burnt garlic. Sadly, it was all downhill from there - the hunan chicken wasn't not stir fried as described and feltmore like batter fried. Was marked as spicy but turned out to be seriously bland with no sight of the chilli oil. Hakka noodles were low (or no?) on salt. The manchurian sauce was desi (and nice) for sure, but the balls were hard and sticky with no flavour on the inside; I was wondering if they're stale! My brother described the food perfectly - its like they don't have a chef. A staff member now does all the cooking, going by what he remembers seeing the...
Read moreFabulous place and a must visit for the lovers of Chinese cuisine!! The first time we landed here was by accident, but all other visits were a result of the craving for the delicious food served here!! It’s a place you can visit with family or friends or even alone.
The ambiance is cozy, with interiors that give you a feel of a Chinese outlet (of course!) and a well planned seating arrangement that is comfortable. Even though it’s comparatively small place, you won’t feel crowded or space invaded. The staff here are very courteous and polite and the speed of service, though good, may annoy you if you are waiting on a hungry stomach.
If you come to a Chinese place and not have soup, it’s a bit incomplete. And the soup section won’t disappoint you. They have great options both in veg and non veg, and the Manchow will remain my fav! Now, there isn’t anything WOW or extraordinary in the soup menu, but it still does the trick here!
The food options have elaborate veg and non veg dishes. Non vegetarians will love the fact that there’s see food; chicken and pork dishes!! I would recommend you try something from each of this for appetizers, with Kung Poo Chicken ; Stir fried fish and Chilly bean Pork being my fav. The main courses will spoil you with choices in rice and noodles and everything looks delicious. I will recommend the American Chopsuey (pork or chicken per your preference) and it will not disappoint you!! The pork options are really fab - both in variety of dishes and the taste - and is the difference maker in the menu.
The great thing about about food here is that it feels fresh and there’s a touch of authenticity to its taste (though it’s indianized Chinese) which other similar places miss the trick on.
I have never tried desserts here, and it’s not a momo place, but everything else is amazing!!
Overall a great place - clean ; authentic ; delicious and value for money!!
PS: no alcohol served and no...
