For a Chinese food lover, a visit today to Taste of China turned out to be a Culinary horror. Wonder how the restaurant at Bapuji Nagar has earned 4 stars. And I was misled by this rating and a review by a food blogger on youtube, Food Finder. Ever since this restaurant had opened in Bapuji Nagar, I had never thought of trying the food there, as I had a gut feeling that the food wouldn't be upto the mark. And my intuition turned out to be true. After a long holy month of Shravan, I went there to enjoy some good Chinese food, the visit turned out to be a Foodie's Nightmare. It was a cosy little restaurant and the ambience seemed just ok. I requested the guest attendant executive to suggest me some good dishes of the restaurant and I ended up ordering Taipei Chicken for starter, and Mixed Noodles, Hunan prawn and Garlic Chicken for the main course. Except for Taipei Chicken, I must have eaten the other dishes umpteen number of times in other Chinese restaurants. When I tried the starter, Taipei Chicken, it turned our to be extremely hot in its taste. Never before a starter had tasted so hot ever in my life. I thought maybe it was meant to be that way and I looked forward to the main course. As I slowly munched my food, I realised that my mouth was burning because of abnormal flavouring of red chillies and I was already beginning to sweat because of the unusual chilly content. Both Hunan prawn and Garlic chicken tasted extremely hot that I was left panting for a glass of water. Just as I was thinking to call the head waiter, I saw that there were three red chillies in the gravy of Hunan prawn and two red chillies in the Garlic chicken. By now, I had drank two glasses of water. The waiter was apologetic and I told him that this was for the first time, I found a Chinese food hotter than an Odia Mutton curry. Even a Mutton curry would be less hot. On talking to the manager over phone(He was not present in the restaurant), the manager talked like a semi literate person who was justifying the taste to be perfect. Later he threw back things at me. I told him that the Indianised version of Chinese dishes are spicy to suit to Indian tastes but not to the extent that the lunch turns out to be a nightmare horror rather than a pleasurable experience. To this, he started misbehaving, just what you can expect of an unprofessional local resraurant manager, who would be unaware of the letter H of hospitality. He justified his dishes and his cooks and was too uncouth, rude and adamant, quite unbecoming of a manager. The waiter suggested some desserts and offered to serve me the dishes fresh once again, but I was in no mood to go through the horror of the palate once again. I paid the full amount and told them that this was my first and last visit to them. Not only the food was super duper great, but also their behaviour and hospitality was something...
Read more"Taste of China is the best in Bhubaneswar ".Have visited this restaurant many times and posting this for the latest one . Recently visited this place on a Monday . It was around 9.00 PM in the evening and we had a good for good Chinese fried rice .As it was a Monday we preferred to go vegetarian . Our first choice was to do a take out considering the heavy rush and waiting period we generally witness here . However thTvdayvwas an exception and the seats were available , so with no second thought we entered the restaurant . The staffs are very good and our order was served in less than 10 mind or so . The crispy baby corn and soup was very quickly served as per our desire. No need to mention about taste as this is the ultimate destination for Chinese food in Bhubaneswar , they had 2 outlets earlier and as per my conversation with one of the staffs they have newly opened another one on highway near pahal ( between Bhubaneswar and cuttack conneting high way). This is on my wish list now . The interiors have a unique red colour to give you a Chinese feeling and the chairs are comfortable . As this place is a good one and attract a lot of customers if you plan to go there on a non-veg day like wednuesdsys and weekends please be prepared for a small waiting time on the waiting sofa near the entrance . But I bet if all you wait your waiting time will be much compasated by mouth watering Chinese food. Do try this place and be assured of going there again and again .
And just because they value customers and their feedback you will get a customer feedback form to fill after you are done with the food. Very rare in such busy restaurants . A MUST MuST try for a Chinese...

I'm writing this review to express my extreme dissatisfaction with my recent order from Taste of China, Bapuji Nagar, via Swiggy. I ordered the regular Chicken Hakka Noodles, priced at a hefty ₹289, and what I received was nothing short of a culinary and packaging disaster.
Firstly, the food arrived in a flimsy plastic container. Serving hot food in such packaging is not only environmentally irresponsible but also raises serious concerns about potential chemical leaching into the food. This is completely unacceptable and frankly, dangerous.
As for the noodles themselves, they were utterly bland and tasted like nothing more than boiled noodles. There was no discernible flavor, no hint of the savory "Hakka" style I was expecting. For ₹289, I expected a dish with some semblance of taste, not something I could have made better myself with a packet of instant noodles. The quantity was average at best, certainly not justifying the inflated price. Furthermore, the restaurant failed to provide any sauces with the order. This is a basic expectation when ordering noodles, and its absence further compounded the overall blandness of the meal.
In summary, my experience with Taste of China was a complete letdown. The poor packaging, tasteless food, and lack of basic accompaniments made for a thoroughly disappointing meal. I strongly advise against ordering online from this restaurant. If possible, avoid this establishment altogether. You're better off saving your money and...
