এই পথ যদি না শেষ হয় তবে কেমন হতো তুমি বলোতো?

The expression SAPTAPADI is synonymous with every Bengali household throughout the globe. From California to Kashba or Beirut to Baranagar, we Bengalis have a different connection with this phrase. The credit goes to the cult classic of the 1961 which rendered the film and the expression immortal amongst the enigmatic Bengali population.

Chef cum owner Ranjan Biswas's venture by the name Saptapadi, has a new outlet after Hindustan Park and Jadavpur, they are now here at Sector 1, very near to City Centre 1. One can locate it easily just nearby Kalyan Jewellers showroom or more precisely just beside the Momo I Am.

Saptapadi brings to the food enthusiast Bengalis authentic Bengali and Bangladeshi cuisine with genuine preparations which is why the food is so lip smacking delicious.

The season of love is here and so Saptapadi decided to open the Pandora's Box for the food lovers with their Special Thali which you could avail throughout February-yes the month of Love! Not only Valentine's Week but our very own Bengali concept of celebrating Day of Love is Basant Panchami or Saraswati Puja falls in February. So one can fathom why this month is special. Saptapadi by introducing this fabulous affordable tasty and humongous thali has made the occassion more special.

The Thali has starters, mains and desserts.

The thali starts with Lichu Lonka Sorbet, which is sweet and spicy at the same time.

For starters you get

Jowan Vetki Nuggets : A lovely way to start the whole affair with some fresh Vetki Nuggets, the jowan adds to the taste have no doubt about it!

Loita Pepper Fry : When one talks about Bangladeshi cuisine then we can never keep away Loitta or Bombay Duck. I am a devout fan of Loita coming from a strict Bangal background, loita fry, loita jhuri are some of the dishes which I am fond of since childhood. The battered loita fry is definitely going to make you drool for more. A must have!

Anar Cheese Chicken Lollipop : Cheesy Chicken Lollipop tossed in tangy sauce. Succulent chicken and tasty.

Koraushutir Croquettes : These deep fried croquettes had a filling of mashed peas and was delectable.

Apart from these you get Jhurjhure Aloo Bhaja and Beguni.

Remember all the starters are unlimited and thus you can have as much as you stomach and heart desires!

Coming to Mains

You get to choose from Rice/Polao. With it you get salad, dal and a veg item(I tried Shukto, the ever favourite).

Morich Mangsho/Murgi : One can choose mutton or chicken as per their preference. Juicy mutton pieces are definitely going to make you happy(only if you have space for more).

And we are not done yet, the Star of the show(platter), Ilish, yes the King of Fishes is what you get, a whole large peti of ilish, and if you're lucky as I was, you might get some ilish macher dim as well!

The desserts section has chutney, papad and notun gurer roshogolla.

Pocket Pinch : The whole Thali costs only Rs.749/- ++taxes Can you just believe what all you get at this deal. Go grab a table with your family or loved ones.

I really wish Saptapadi's " পথ শেষ না হয়" and they keep giving us happiness like they have been since...

I’ve always known about this restaurant since it’s just a few blocks away from my office in AD Block, but I never had the opportunity to visit until recently. This was my first experience here, and I must say it exceeded my expectations on every front. The occasion was my girlfriend's birthday, so I wanted everything to be just right—and the restaurant didn’t disappoint.

The first thing that caught my attention was the ambience. As soon as we stepped in, we were greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The decor was tastefully done, with a perfect balance of elegance and coziness. The lighting created a relaxed vibe, and the seating arrangement offered enough privacy to make it feel intimate. Whether you're visiting for a special occasion or just a casual meal, the setting makes you feel comfortable and appreciated.

Now, coming to the most important part—the food. The quality of the dishes was outstanding. Every item we ordered was prepared to perfection, bursting with flavors, and presented beautifully. The menu offered a wide variety of options, catering to different tastes and preferences, which was a huge plus. Each bite reflected the care and expertise that went into its preparation. Whether you're a fan of classic dishes or looking to try something new, there’s something for everyone here.

What truly made the experience memorable, however, was the staff. From the moment we walked in, they were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Their professionalism was evident in the way they managed everything seamlessly, ensuring that we felt valued throughout our visit. Despite the restaurant being reasonably busy, they attended to us with genuine care and attention. Small gestures, like helping us choose dishes and making sure the birthday celebration went smoothly, really stood out. They even surprised us with a little extra effort to make the day feel special, which was a heartwarming touch.

Overall, this visit turned out to be much more than just a meal; it was an experience. The combination of excellent food, inviting ambience, and outstanding service made it a memorable evening. I’m not sure why it took me so long to visit this place, but now that I’ve had this experience, I’ll definitely be returning soon. It’s rare to find a restaurant that gets all the elements just right, but this one manages to do so effortlessly.

If you’re in the salt lake sector I area and looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion or simply enjoy a high-quality meal, I would highly recommend giving this place a try. They’ve set a benchmark for what dining out should feel like, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit. Thank you to the team for making my girlfriend’s birthday celebration so special—it’s a day we’ll cherish for...

#saptapadi Saltlake:

Visited this place with normal expectations of good Bengali food.. Had a very bad experience.. Firstly, the staff convinced us of the different variety of food available on the buffet. It was priced 850/- plus taxes. Naturally we relied on him and being foodies, we ordered the same. We were told that the food would be served at the table and there won't be any trouble of getting up again and again. Thought that was a good thing. Well never thought that I would actually regret ordering for a buffet.

Secondly, there were fritters of different types. Apart from one or two, it didn't taste well.. The chicken pakoda felt like it was a stale one. The fish items were smelly. Thirdly, the mutton wasn't cooked properly, didn't taste well as well. The chicken was cold. I already feel tired from too much complaining.

I am a food lover. Starting from the aroma to a good dining experience, everything counts for me. So when we had to pay 1830/- in total, that really didn't feel good with respect to the experience. I always do my research before going to eat out somewhere but I don't know how this place has a high rating. I genuinely don't understand.

The staff was almost above our head most of the time and we weren't given any privacy which is one of the most important things about a dining ambience. Also, the drinks they served were in plastic cups, the ones we generally use in parar picnics, one of the drinks left me nauseating.

And the dessert, omfg! Even Joey would have vomited that out.. Rachel's trifle was a masterpiece judging by that!

Lastly but not leastly, I went there with my boyfriend. So while we were almost done, the staff comes and asks him "Sir apni ki koren"? He didn't ask me the same question in spite of the fact that I kept sitting there. I so wished he asked me if I want something else.. I would have replied "some gender equality please!" And needless to say, the bill was also given to my bf whereas the feedback form was given to me! Of course, for being a woman I am supposed to know more about food! Exploring food places have always been of interest to me..And fortunately enough, I have never been disappointed till date to the point where it made me uncomfortable. Never going back there and would recommend my friends the same! শুধু উত্তম সুচিত্রার ছবি দিলেই কি বাঙালিয়ানা নিয়ে আসা যায় দাদা? আপনাদের খাবার তো অধম...

When I first walked into Saptapadi restaurant in Salt Lake, I was just stunned by how the authenticity of a typical and traditional Bengali restaurant was set up. The evergreen couple - Uttam Kumar and Suchitra Sen's photos all over the place even behind the chairs made me feel like I was almost dining on a movie set. Not just that, the hospitality is impeccable and it's fabulous to have posters which have the content written in both Bengali and English. It is a place you can go on a romantic dinner for because they have introduced a really classy candle light dinner menu and the concept truly defines the same. You can also walk down with your family here as well as they have seperate sections for candle light diners and regular diners which is truly revolutionary, the space has been utilised very well. Moving on, I tried the mutton thali here but they have options in veg, chicken and even fish however some starters are common. The thali comprises of 5 starters, for the non veg thali the starters include molten chicken fingers (it was truly molten cheese inside, not just pulled cheese or cheesy), vetki chingri toffee with laal morich sauce, chingrir chatpati, paneer devil and lonka loitta fingers (loitta fish that has been coated with chilli batter and fried). And while the aromatic basmati rice with the mutton kosha was the highlight for me, you need to know that you can choose between pulao or plain rice, there's a typical aloo fulkopir torkari and shukto too. To end the meal, there's a very unique Mishti doi galauti that is shaped like a galauti kebab with a binding of gram flour served alongside tomato chutney and papad which was an incredible way to end the meal and I can't wait to get back.
