I came to know about this cafe through instagram. Because of its unique ambience, Caravan Cafe has become very popular recently. Inside the cafe a van/caravan serves as a coffee bar where a Barista is busy making your favorite coffees. The walls are covered with small plants. The rooftop is transparent and also covered with lights & small indoor plantations. Now keeping all these in mind, imagine that you are having coffee here in a rainy day. The very artistic design of this cafe will give you a vibe of being surrounded by a bit of nature where you can just sit and relax while having some coffee listening to the musical drops of rain on the rooftop.
Now the food. Overall it was damn good. I had an espresso with veg club sandwich. Espresso was well prepared. It had a somewhat intense aroma with a deep brown colored light layer of crema. But the flavour was bitterly smooth with a lasting aftertaste. I also tried the Irish coffee with whipped cream. But you know having Irish coffe without alcohol is of no use. Still then given the conditions it was ok kind of.
Sandwich was delicious with fillings of potatoes, veggies and sauce. Their menu has huge variants of food to choose from. Basically you can go for it and enjoy the food.
No complain about service. At the end of our meal, Barista came and asked us about the quality of espresso. So, they are very concerned about...
Read moreOh, Caravan Cafe is our go to place at night post work! This place is open till 12.30am on weekdays and 2am on weekends. Earlier it used to be open till 2am everyday. Hence it used to be a stress relief adda joint for us friends who after work stepped out in a traffic free Calcutta road and cane here either for a coffee or for little more than a coffee. Their chicken pesto sandwich is amazing, i bet! Although they keep shuffling their menu and keep adding occasion specific menu, but their offering is mostly surrounding the Greek pallette . Dont expect a roti sabzi here - for that you have their next door place, Balle Balle dhaba. We have tried most of their dishes and quick bites, a few dishes felt expensive, but taste wise none disheartened. Additionally their owner Deb, is a nice man. If you bump into him, he will personally ask you your experience and take feedbacks. He never will ask you to drop a review, i am dropping this review after visiting the place at least 20 times over a period of two years.
Overall, this place is a good hangout place and you can sit here for either to catch up with your friends like us or probably take your girlfriend/boyfriend out.
The location is at a vantage point, but during office hours, parking can be a huge issue. Post 9/10pm , you can park your car right in front of the place - security...

SERVICE: Although the server was attentive, given the lack of customers, there was no sense of busyness. However, I was dismayed to discover an instance of overcharging during billing. A bottle of mineral water is priced at INR 50 in the menu, but I found out during billing that the server surreptitiously slipped in subterranean water priced at INR 150. It's advisable to remain vigilant against such deceptive practices.
FOOD: Kolkata is renowned for its breakfast staples like naanpuri, kachori, and paratha. Unfortunately, the toast and egg dishes, often labeled as "English breakfast" or "Continental breakfast," continue to disappoint. Caravan Cafe was no exception to this trend, with the toast being overly hard, the chicken sausage resembling sautéed mushrooms, and the scrambled eggs lacking in flavor and taste.
ATMOSPHERE: While the decor was satisfactory, the absence of restroom facilities was notable. Upon inquiry, I was directed to use the restroom at the adjacent dhaba, which was an inconvenience.
Overall, I’d not be keen...
