Garden Galleria situated in Sec 32 (Opp Mall of India) is growing rapidly and is offering some real good places in terms of food. One such place is Laat Saab. I decided to try it because of the name, quiet different eh?
Hoping to satisfy my hunger pangs admist this summer heat, I stepped inside just to find myself transported to a Haveli. Well the theme is kind of mixed. Not completely a Haveli look and neither a complete railway station look as they just have one HUGE wall painted of a train coach (and you feel awkward when you realise that passengers painted are peeping into your plate :P - pun intended).
Anyways, it was nice that they got the AC Units painted, that was a creative thing to do as you donât have to stare to those ugly blocks of machine.
The seating and decor does not follow any uniformity. The only similarity in seating I found was in the outdoor furniture which is basically a table laid out in-between two rickshaws (see the pics and you will understand what I am saying) and that was pretty cool and perfect for evening/good weather.
Coming quickly to the FOOD, here is what all we tried and our take on it:
Dahi Kebab: Very different from what I have had before. The outer layer was of papad ONLY and no bread was used for binding. The filling was good but I found it bit tangy for my taste.
Hazratganj Subh Galouti Kebab: This was authentic veg galouti and absolutely melt in the mouth. It contained raw banana amongst all other veggies.
Grill Fish Amritsari: This was an absolute winner amongst the starters. They served a complete fillet which was grilled to perfection. The blend of spices was spot-on. On asking, we were told that the chef prepares his own secret masala. It was served with a yummy cheese-mayo sauce.
Bhatti ka Murg: Very different in texture from other places, the chicken was cooked in such balance that the outer layer was crisp and it was juicy and soft inside.
Videshi Chicken Tikka: This tikka was hot enough and was tossed in cheese and some special spices. Tasted yummy and looked tempting.
Peshawari Tawa Paneer: This is a must try! The star of our meal. The smoky flavour of the dish will just make you eat more and more. The flavours were intense and bang-on. Paneer was soft and serving was generous.
Authoritywala Meat: This was as interesting as its name. The pieces were tender and the gravy was a mix of keema with tomatoes.
Military Chicken Curry: Cooked in rich tomato based curry, its a all time favourite dish. Chicken Curry can never go wrong :)
Chur-Chur stuff kulcha: Amritsar styled kulcha with just a thin layer of filling. This kulcha was HUGE (literally) and we didnât feel the need to call for any other breads. Ofcourse it was tasty and the combination with curries was perfect.
Tarkari Dum Biryani: Assorted veggies with rice and some gravy was high on a particular spice which made it a average dish.
Shikora Phirni: Meal without a dessert is incomplete. We tried Phirni which was again average. Taste was good but it was kind of dry. This can be improved upon.
Shikanjavi 85: Basically a fresh lime soda with some added special masala which gave it a refreshing taste. Really enjoyed it.
Mogra ka Sharbat: We could really feel the mogra flowers around us as it was so fragrant and taste nice.
Safed gulab ka sharbat: Almost transparent in colour, this was a delightful drink.
Good things apart from food: They use their own mix of spices curated by Chef Ravindra Malhotra All the sherbet syrups are prepared in-house and thatâs why they taste so real. The portion size is really good. They generously serve 8 pieces of good size in a plate. Staff is polite, attentive and gave us wonderful food recommendations. Mr. Sanjeev Sharma in particular was very helpful and he made sure we tried all the chefâs special.
What can be improved? Service time was long. That really needs to be improved. Choice of music was cheezy bollywood numbers which can be improved :) Bit improvements in...

You would surely spot the open rickshaw seatings placed on the first floor facade incase you walk from the main entrance of the Gardens Galleria. However, a few standees or directional arrows should be placed in case you arrive from the parking level since it's a bit difficult to reach.
Though a little cramped up, the interiors highlights a journey from South to the North within the country using various elements and props. An entire wall has been covered by a train wallpaper with a painting of an engine leading the way. Different types of seatings have been placed like a buggy seat, a chariot seat & numerous normal seats as well rickshaw seats with fixed wheels attached to them. (Don't worry everything is fixed well!!!) Some wall props add fancy to the entire theme which acts as if your looking out of the train window. The mocktail bar or Madhushala is placed at starting giving it a feel of a stall at the railway station. All in all you would feel a little too packed up once inside the restaurant if it's a bit crowded.
Moving on to the food which is a class apart then its surroundings. This restaurant gives you a esteemed walk-through on the culinary caravan with it's rich & authentic zests. For starters, there are loads of options of both Veg & Non veg which would tempt your taste buds to try more & more. Standing out here was the Amritsari Grilled Fish, Veg Galouti Kebabs, Chowpatty Paneer Tikka & Dahi Ke Kebabs. The Dahi Kebabs were too alluring since the the outer shell was crispy unlike others and inside was moist. Chowpatty Paneer was a burst of flavours using mixed spice contrary to normal Paneer tikka with capsicum & onions. Veg Galouti was literally too amazing to be described. Videshi Chicken tikka & Malai Chicken tikka could have been a better had the chicken been a bit more juicy. The marination for both the snacks was well done respectively but the chicken pcs felt a little less moist than usual. We sipped the various Mocktails like Rose & lavaang Sherbet, Pink woman, Greentini, Shikanji etc. helped us switch our taste buds as per the food tastes.
We tried to identify some of their peculiar signature dishes for the main course. For veg we ordered, Dal Tadka, Dal Makhni, Peshawari Paneer, Malai Kofta, Sabz Panchrattani, Corn Salad & Raita in addition to a dum sabzi biryani. In non veg department, we consumed Authoritywala Meat & Butter Chicken. Breads included the unique bigger than it's plate - Chur chur Naan, soft Laccha Paranthas & fresh Missi Rotis.
I must say, each dish has it's own delectable virtue. Every gravy based dish was so creamy & rich and the tastes were oozing out of them. This is probably one of the best places where you can enjoy having veg food too!!! The Kofta was softer than ice cream literally & melted right inside the mouth. It's curry had a sweet note which involved bel (wood apple) as one of it's ingredients that was the most surprising element. Both the pulses were good too. As a street style preparation Authoritywala Meat was quite ambrosial with succulent pieces of mutton accompanied by minced mutton as it's gravy. Butter Chicken was above than average.
All this ended with a sweet note of faluda kulfi that was way in top as the rest of the dishes. The faluda appeared ice cube like which is an exclusive. The phirni was average & could have been a bit better if allowed to set for more time.
Heartiest applause to the management & the staff! They were extremely courteous, possessed good knowledge about food and well...

We read the reviews of this place online and decided to visit this restaurant and were very excited but it turned out otherwise and we were really disappointed. Kindly read to know why?
Ambience:
Ambience was the first thing which helped us make up our mind to visit this restaurant. The outside sitting at the restaurant has a rickshaw like sitting arrangement which reminds you of the old time rickshaw aka buggy. Also on the outside sitting one sees a huge Royal Buggy with Laat Saab painted on it where you can sit and dine in. Other than this there is also inside seating available where one can sit on the swing and eat other than the normal seats provided. The inside restaurant is compact and has fewer seating and feels congested as compared to outside seating.
Food:
Starters:
In starters we ordered Chowpati Paneer Tikka which costed for rupees 445 for one plate. It tasted good and was presented beautifully.
Main course:
In the main course Paneer Lababdar, Dal Makhni(which the staff forgot to write while taking the order and therefore we had to opt it out) and Breads namely Missi Roti and Butter Naan was ordered.
Paneer Lababdar was different from the ordinary. It had chopped onion tomato and capsicum in the gravy which was quite different but as compared to the Paneer Lababdar served here I have had a better version for a lesser price in some other restaurant. A plate of paneer lababdar costed for around rupees 445 per plate.
In Breads Missi Roti was for rupees 60 each and Butter Naan was for rupees 95 each.
Food was sumptuous and appetite. It costed for around 1700 with taxes for 2 persons.
Staff and service:
No coming to staff and service I would recommend that they improve highly on this segment because the service was quite slow and the staff was very lethargic and irresponsible. As stated above we had also ordered Dal Makhani but the staff taking the order did not take that into account and thereby we were not serve Dal Makhani.
We had to repeatedly ask the staff to refill the glass of water and while refilling the staff poured the water on the table and almost on the plate. And he did not even turn back to clean it until we brought it to his notice. The attitude of the staff was not good and they were acting as if they are doing some kind of a favour to us. It was only after this incident that the manager of the restaurant started behaving really over sweet with us by doing us a favour by clicking our pictures and all. But otherwise the staff was not courteous and should improve their services.
PROS:
âGood ambience âOutside seating âUnique decor âFood- Veg and Non veg both are available.
CONS:
ĂStaff ĂService ĂSome may find the cost more.
Since we did not have a very good experience at this restaurant I would not myself be visiting it here after and would not...
