TIMBER CAFÉ DELHI — Restaurant in Delhi

We hadn’t had our morning tea the day we visited this café. We were exhausted after getting everything ready to drop off my niece at her hostel. As tea lovers, all my sister and I wanted was a good cup of tea. Unfortunately, Bhansagarh (our favourite spot ) was still closed that day, so we went around looking for another place that served tea.

We walked into this café and I decided to settle for coffee. However, my sister, due to health reasons, cannot drink coffee. She politely asked if masala tea was available, and they informed us that it wasn’t.

We were about to start ordering when, to our shock, one of the staff members began repeatedly mocking the term “masala tea,” laughing and saying it over and over — at least 6 to 7 times. It felt extremely rude and unnecessary. Disgusted by this behaviour, we quietly left the café without making a scene, though in hindsight I wish I had addressed it then and there.

We’ve never experienced such unprofessional and hostile behaviour at any restaurant before. As Indians, it’s not unusual for us to prefer tea over coffee — and making fun of a perfectly reasonable request is simply unacceptable. We will definitely not be returning. Worst experience in...
