Hit or miss this place. I have always heard the best things about this place and my visit there for the first time was probably one of the best I have had. Although when I visited them again, last week, I was highly disappointed by their service, attitude and tardiness with respect to food. We waited for an hour on a Saturday night. While i understand it's probably a busy night for all restaurants, a simple communication to say the food will be delayed and saying this upfront is what any establishment would do. Or even stop giving tables out if your are short staffed causing delays. We were just two persons, and we placed 4 items to order and then we noticed that customers who came after us got their food first (which was the same as our order), we reminded them and got no responses because the two servers were busy and the lady manager at the counter busy with billings. That wasn't the problem, the problem started when our chowmein came after an hour with shreds of meat on it. I had ordered the same dish during my previous visit and the noodles were filled with chunky pieces of meat. I called the lady manager because the servers were still busy or continuing to ignore and told her that the momos not the noodles had meat, very less, barely. She spoke rudely and very defensively and telling us in a louder pitch that the momos traditionally don't have much meat and then she said started picking a fight on the noodles being the same. So i showed her pictures of my previous visit and the noodles. She started pulling my phone and I asked her why and what are you doing, she said no you give it to me, I will speak to the chef and show him. She disappeared into the kitchen, with my phone, and didn't return for some minutes. I finally got my chowmein. The chowmein and fried rice were good. Rest negligible, not as good as the last time. When my cousin went to pay the bill, the lady manager the same woman who fought with us, started to ignore my cousin. My cousin asked her what she has to pay and she stil kept looking down pretending to write something acting busy. When my cousin asked her once more, this lady snaps and says, I'm making your bill only. I don't think this passive aggressive attitude was required, communication would have helped, even if we had to wait for an hour, some kindness and warmth could have been shown. After the let down and late arrival of food as well, it's not about getting a free meal, but mostly a warm one. And I'm highly disappointed in the staff who probably had a busy Saturday but have zero empathy, communication...
Read moreWhat a fantastic restaurant! We came in for lunch on a Thursday and even though we were the only ones in the restaurant, within 30 minutes the entire place was packed! Felt very lively and I guess it’s a good way to feel like being in Mizoram without actually being there!
First off, our server Bebi (I hope I spelled it right) was so patient and explained the whole menu to us and gave us great recommendations for what to order. We ordered the Aloo Chop, Pork Momos, Grilled Chicken Salad, Smoked Pork Fried Rice, Chow Kan Pangai with egg, and Pork Ribs. Everything was so flavorful and delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant. Excellent Mizo food and my favorite NE Indian restaurant in Delhi! Oh yeah we also got some fresh buzu (rice beer) and it was refreshing and delicious!
The Chow Kan Pangai has sauce and is dryer while I believe that the Chowsatuileh has soup. We also want to try the Porridge next time, the Pork curry (which was also recommended) and some of the the Chawhmeh items (which are various subjee/sabzi dishes).
All in all, fantastic restaurant, a great place to bring both friends and family and try something new each time. I also love how Mizo Diner stays proud of its Mizo roots and let’s it’s customers enjoy authentic Indian food you will not be able to...
Read moreThis is my third visit to this amazing place where you can get most authentic mizo cuisine. Time and again this place makes you feel that you are thousand miles away from New Delhi while you are having this unique mizo food amongst the fragrance of wood, leaves and the mild music of hills. If you are confused and don't know what to eat just try Thali. It comes in two version, vegetarian and non-vegetarian. Since I haven't tried vegetarian, I can write about the later. The non-vegetarian Thali comes with a medium bowl of chicken/pork, a simple daal, peanut chutni, red chilli chutni, salad chutni and a bowl of boiled vegetables.
The overall taste of the food is so addictive that you can't leave even a part of it unfinished. And they serve you free extra rice too with all love and care. Where else such hospitality can be found in this part of the world!
Having said that the ambience of the place needs some improvement. Or perhaps some touch of rework on the aesthetics. Or perhaps change the colour of the wall to yellow or white or anything that is bright and appealing.
Overall, this place is a go-to place if you are foodie who swear by food from this part of the world...
