The food was okayish (not at par with the premium pricing that they are commanding similar to Oh Calcutta and 6 Ballygunge Place). While capitalising on the Bengali sentiments, they must also learn to meet the service standards of mid-premium restaurants. My friend reached 5 minutes early and was kept standing (this is the service, after we had already booked a slot on Zomato Dining and also informed on phone). After I arrived, the cooking staff (probably the commis) took another 5 minutes to turn on the AC and lights. As a services marketing person myself, I can ascertain, this is the first touchpoint where you lose a customer, no matter how your later touchpoints are.
The radhaballavi platter was okayish (probably the alur torkaari could have been slightly more in quantity for the four pieces of bread). The chicken dukbungalow was decent, but the chingrir malaikari had a dearth of coconut paste -- the very basic ingredient. The bhetki paturi was okayish, could have been better if a small amount of posto was blended with the mustard paste (that's what most good chefs do). Good efforts to set up a Bengali-centred strategy but you have a lot to learn --- strategy is never a standalone thing; it's intertwined in the entire set of activities you perform -- a single thread breaks, and your strategy...
Read moreWe ordered Fresh lime soda, Radhaballabi, Plain rice, Prawn malai curry, Ilish tok, Fish kobiraji and 2 Baked roshogolla complimentary (Offer on Zomato).
Prawn malai curry was okayish in taste, simple but pricy. (7/10)
Ilish tok was very bad. The gravy was more sweet than tangy. It tasted as if they used tomato ketchup while preparing it. On top of that the Ilish itself is known for it's taste and the uncountable bones, I hardly found any bones in it (Maybe it was a genetically engineered Ilish for people who can't eat fish with too many bones 🤭). (1/10)
Baked roshogolla was good but not fresh. (6/10)
Radhaballabi hardly had any stuffing, I think they served Luchi instead. (6/10)
Plain rice was plain rice, no fuc* up here. (10/10)
Fresh lime soda was crisp and balanced. It was good. (10/10)
It was my first time having fish kobiraji, I didn't like it as it was too oily to my liking and bland in taste. (4/10)
Edit: I also ordered Jhuri aloo bhaja, which they didn't serve but was still charged. I noticed...
Read moreYesterday had the best dinner at this restaurant. Food we ordered was awesome in taste. Just have one suggestion - please do keep single piece item too like two of us ordered luchi platter with 4 luchi, we wanted to have more but was about to get full with rice too, so we asked the server to bring only two piece luchi, but he denied stating it comes in a platter.
I am not saying that it's not acceptable but my thought process after going to a authentic restaurant is i will eat variety of items.
Even a bit confused with the prices. Cutlet, Chop & even fish kobiraji's prices were too high but with dineout booking it was ok.
Still no complaints. I know with great taste comes with a...
