Chocolate House - Colva — Restaurant in Goa

It's nice decor cafe / bistro located on the main road, with limited parking Visited as family with 2 kids - as cant resist the name chocolate when selecting a place with kids.

BEST thing First- Decor and Funny Quotes across. Real look of a upmarket place in terms of upholstery, decor and interiors- more targeted for crowd in 20-30 year age grp. Some great funny quotes to read

BETTER thing second- Cutlery , plates , cup saucer matching the kind of ambience. Little dated though. Parking is sufficient for 2 cars or multiple scooters, in rush time more parking available around 100-200 mtr far.

What Didn't work for us- Food- It seems hyped for the ambience and chic look- Food is not up to mark as per our experience and evaluation- let's take one by one 1- Spinach omelette- 1/5 rating- Nothing great about the dish - but bad part was dust /sand particles between teeth- It's far from beach and unless it was dropped or spinach not washed properly you wont get that - or did it fell down and put back - That will remain mystery 2- Belgian Waffle- was good, little hard (not crispy - hard) but will rate 3.5/5 3- English breakfast- Now this is something very difficult to mess up , yet many restaurants screw it up- Mostly because of cutting corners- Nothing great in Eggs, again white bread, Smallest size sausages I have ever got anywhere which were chewy - Sausage is Processed meat and not easy to make it chewy, baked beans were on dry side but at least not tasting of ketchup as in many places , Hashed brown was good, sauteed mushroom was like a side actor in a movie who doesnt do any thing or you wont remember later-on - It's just there in credits . Overall - 1/5 in rating 4- Vanilla and choco delight pancake- First - chocolate icecream was not served, had to ask for it-- Then it came and tasted stale- Consider the long stored fridge items where the fridge leaves an smell on items - or when it melts and freezes multiple times owing to power problem- My kids left it - Let me Repeat- KIDS LEFT CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM-- that's like How on earth moment for us :)... Anyways- Pancakes were very hard than they should be , no amalgamation of tastes as happens when you mix multiple flavors in a dish. We get much better pan cakes in every small corner of 4 cities I have had . Big let down- Rating - 0/5

SERVICE- Courteous serving staff, high headed billing staff. My Coffee was brought so quick for breakfast that it was gone for 10 mins by the time first thing came- You dont do that with coffee in breakfast - Poor coffee is supposed to accompany it's friends in order or come in end to wash down heavy breakfast. You dont serve things as whatever I can give lets give. There is natural ordering Omelette and breakfast Served with white bread- and no option of brown or multi grain or homemade bread as is case with this level of cafes anywhere Pricy for level of food in terms of taste, quantity or quality

OVERALL- Not up there apart from ambience for me- May be good place for Date if your couple - you may overlook things in company of that wonderful person as ambience and feel matters more then but...

Ambiance: We visited this place for a quick bite, well, especially for croissants. And spoiler alert this place didn't disappoint us. This place has some decent aesthetics. We like the seating arrangement. It has some background music going on which was on perfect volume so you can talk to each other, in a normal voice. Overall, we were happy with the place.

Food: This place has some amazing croissants, period! We also tried their Belgian waffles with Vanilla Ice Cream and Choco Brownie, Oreo Shake, and Toblerone Shake. To be honest, the shakes were kinda just below average, but the waffle was delicious. Still, the most delicious thing that they have in-store was their Croissants, it was a real treat, truly unique.

Staff: The staff here was courteous and helpful in all manners. One thing I liked was that our attendees had good knowledge of each item on the menu and have a clear understanding of ingredients and taste.

Washroom: We have visited both the washroom and handwash area. Both of them are neat and clean, and exactly where I prefer them to be, away from the main dining area.

Verdict: I would suggest visiting this place, at least once to try out their croissants. I have also heard they have decent Pizza and Pasta, but we haven't tried so I can't...

this joint didn't have many of the items listed on the menu - for example, the strawberry choctail (sic) with white or milk chocolate, the dutch truffle milk shake or the brownie (an ingredient in some of the items). each time the waiter would take the order, go down to the kitchen and come back up saying that the item was not available. after the third such time, we asked him to help us out by telling us what WAS available and that we would order it. it might make sense for the place to have a monsoon (read off-season) menu with a shorter list of items that are mostly available. we weren't impressed with the (eventual) items we ordered - the toblerone shake was like any other shake available anywhere and the butter mushrooms croque was not an inspired take either - a sandwich (using plain sandwich bread without removing the crust) cut in 4 with cheese on top and mushroom inside. the cappuccino was...
