A Culinary Journey to Japan at Ebisu, Gurugram
If you're seeking an authentic Japanese dining experience, Ebisu is the perfect destination. Tucked away on the first floor of Palm Spring Plaza on Golf Course Road, Sector 54, Gurugram, this high-end Izakaya-style restaurant is truly a hidden gem. From the moment I stepped in, I was transported into a dreamy realm of Japanese enchantment. The serene beauty of the ambiance and the delicate flavors of the cuisine whisked me straight to Japan.
Ebisu's mission to serve authentic Japanese flavors is reflected in every dish they craft. The charming atmosphere, enhanced by cozy Tatami rooms, provides an intimate dining experience that soothes the soul. Whether you're a sushi lover or a fan of Japanese comfort food, every bite here is a step deeper into the heart of Japan's rich culinary traditions.
The sushi selection is undoubtedly a highlight at Ebisu, but I found myself equally captivated by other tantalizing dishes. One of my favorites was the Satumaimo Korokke, a sweet potato croquette with a delightfully crispy exterior and a soft, subtly sweet filling. It was the perfect start to the meal.
The Ebisu Special Kushi Moriawase Yakitori, an assortment of perfectly grilled skewers, stood out with its smoky flavor and tender texture. Each bite melted in my mouth, leaving me craving more.
For sushi, I indulged in the Teriyaki Chicken Roll, a grilled teriyaki chicken roll that perfectly balanced savory and sweet flavors. The Crunchy Philly Roll, featuring salmon with avocado and cream cheese, was another delight. The creaminess of the cheese complemented the freshness of the salmon, and the crunchy texture added a satisfying contrast.
One dish that really impressed me was the Veg Gyoza, with its voluminous filling and crisp, crimped edges. The homemade chili garlic sauce served alongside was the perfect companion, offering a punch of flavor without overpowering the dumplings.
In the mains, the Kara Ramen stood out—a hearty bowl of ramen noodles in a chili-infused soup that provided the ideal comfort food experience. The rich, spicy broth was warming, and the noodles had the perfect chew. I also tried the Chicken Katsu Curry, a deep-fried chicken cutlet served with Japanese rice and curry. The crisp breading and the mildly spiced curry worked together in perfect harmony.
No meal at Ebisu would be complete without dessert, and I was spoiled for choice. The Matcha Zenzai, with its combination of ice cream, sticky rice dumpling, and red bean sauce, was a unique and refreshing treat, while the Mandarin Almond Jelly offered a delicate and refreshing finish, pairing almond jelly with the tanginess of fresh orange.
To complement my meal, I sipped on the Mango Sour, a refreshing mix of vodka, mango juice, and soda that was the perfect drink to unwind with.
The service at Ebisu was exceptional, radiating warmth and attentiveness. Towards the end of my dining experience, F&B Manager Kanhaiya Lal personally came to meet me, which added a special touch to an already memorable evening. I left feeling thoroughly satisfied and already planning my next visit—perhaps to their Saket outlet.
Dining at Ebisu is not just a meal; it's an immersive experience. From the tranquil ambiance to the exquisite flavors, every moment spent here transports you to Japan. I can't wait to return for another round of sushi, yakitori, and ramen. Ebisu is definitely a place that beckons you...

I truly love eating at Ebisu! The quality of the meat is superb, and every visit has been a delightful experience. One thing I appreciate about this restaurant is its willingness to evolve—I've noticed changes over time, and while some have been great, others have made me hesitant.
I’ve introduced many friends to Ebisu, hoping they would love the taste as much as I do. However, the inconsistency in certain aspects sometimes makes it a hit or miss.
Notable Changes: ✅ Ramen: I always order Kara Ramen because I love it! However, on my recent visits, the ramen used seemed similar to instant packet ramen, which was disappointing and even caused a stomach ache. The spice level was also much higher than usual. ✅ Gyoza: This was one of the best dishes I had here initially, but the taste has been inconsistent lately. It’s unfortunate because I was a big fan, but I’m now hesitant to order it again. ✅ Serving Portions: There have been changes in portion sizes, which can be surprising for regular customers. Consistency in this area would be great! ✅ Spice Levels: While I enjoy spicy food, sometimes the spice level varies too much between visits. ✅ New Menu: I truly appreciate the addition of vegetarian and vegan options! Now I can bring my vegetarian friends along, making the experience more inclusive. ✅ Crockery Upgrade: The new crockery looks beautiful and enhances the dining experience. ✅ Chopsticks: Transitioning from plastic to wooden and now premium wooden chopsticks is a nice touch.
Suggestions for Improvement:
✨ Nandan Chicken – The flavor is gold! However, the top layering of mayonnaise/sauce would be better if served in a bowl for better mixing and balance.
Despite these concerns, I still love Ebisu and want to see it flourish! A little more consistency in portion sizes and flavors would make this place even better. Looking forward to my next visit!

Read moreWent here for dinner on a weekday and had a decent experience . The ambience was absolutely perfect and created the atmosphere of a authentic Japanese joint perfectly. They offer floor seating which is comfortable and unique.
The service was also good! The staff is very prompt and attentive , and accommodated our requests well.
However in all honesty the food did not meet the expectations that have been built around this place. Most dishes lacked the crucial umami flavour and were very flat.
The ‘yakitori’ we ordered was good, 5 assorted chicken skewers ,all delicious , but not justified by the price .
The onigiri with sweet miso was lovey and paired wel with the fresh miso soup.
The goamae salad was a let down, the spinach was undercooked and very very bland, almost as if they forgot to season it. Similarly the grilled shitake mushrooms were dry and underwhelming .
The tonkatsu ramen was a miss as-well , the broth was overpoweringly salty and the toppings did not add to any flavour, the ramen noodles were also not fresh or homemade and fell apart.
The grilled tofu steak was good, the sauce coating it was delicious but very less hence it was dry to eat.
The desserts were by far the best part of the meal. We ordered the matcha icecream that was served with red bean paste ,and the assorted rice balls (mochi), scrumptious to say the least.
Overall a good meal, decently...
