The place is a house converted into a restaurant for vegtarian meals. The food is bland, but hygienic. Nothing extraordinary or even above-average in the food. It’s a normal meal served hot and fresh. Such warm and Hygienic food is in short supply in the East Fort area. So for that reason, crowds are drawn in to the restaurant.
People queue up in front of the door to take tokens. A limited crowd is allowed inside at a time batch-by-batch. When your turn comes up, enter and grab your seat. The ambience is dull, barely enough light inside and the heat would drive you mad. The seating is jam-packed and the furniture leaves barely enough room for the waiters to move around. It’s an uncomfortable position.
But everyone sucks it up for the food. They serve rice with two vegetable dishes, pappadam, buttermilk and hot parippuvada.
Honestly, in my opinion, it is not worth the price. This is not a food that one can eat every day. It’s a one-time try and just forget it. And don’t think that you can park many cars in the area. You would only clog the roads. So if you are in East fort for any other purpose, just walk up to the mess and...

Then they will serve you with rice (White rice and it taste really good) and a small plate of curries and the highlight "parippuvada" . You can ask for more prippuvada also. (better to have two). You will be served with curd also. Curries will be one thoran, one gravy like koottukari , pickle and pappadam (or appalam). Highly recomended for the people who love to have veg meals with white rice. Difficult to find the place. Use google map.

Read moreIf you're from Chennai or just love that proper Tamil nadu sappadu, you need to know about this place on Puthen Theruvu. I keep coming back here every time I miss home. Yeah, you can get white rice and sambar anywhere in TVM. But here? It's the real deal. You will sit down and they plonk that steel plate with a crispy, hot parippuvadai on the side, you just know. It's that little detail that takes me right back to my Chennai days. Their pickle has that perfect kick, the curd is always set right, not too sour and their poriyals taste👌. It’s not just a meal, it’s a proper, wholesome experience that fills up your stomach and your heart. No fancy ambience, just amazing, authentic food. My absolute favourite for a reason!
ProTip: Go hungry. And maybe get there before the lunch rush hits, if you want to get a seat quick. Because there is token system...
