Writing this review for Mattam Al Rahath.. Specifically mentioned like that because there are Rahat Gallerias pics also included in other reviews.
We were 7 people and needed to find a relaxed and comfortable dining spot, which is why we came to Rahath. Visited before also. There was rush and we need to wait for minutes to find a seat. The management is pathetic in allocation of seats for customers. While we were there,2 persons were dining on a 6 persons table . That too on a busy day.
The atmosphere is clean and good.
COMING TO FOOD, I clearly don't know other than the hype,it was a below average experience. One middle-aged man,the main waiter is the only person taking the orders and one other is also there while serving. We can clearly see that they can not manage the orders properly. WHILE the main guy, taking order he was saying Arabic dishes only .Then we ask for Chicken mandhi but he was saying it will take time .It need to be brought from some other kitchen of them.. Then we asked for any kerala food as seen from the signboard but he is saying Biriyani is only the kerala food they are having..
We said we will wait for the chicken mandhi even it will take time... Then the guy told it will take 30 min.. That time it was already 1.15pm. Then we told we will wait and he was panicking and telling maybe it will become more late...we were glad hearing this type of excuses.
After that, we were forced to order Chicken biriyani as there was only alfahm mandi, mutton mandhi and beef rib mandhi...
The biriyani was pathetic. 2 piece one egg and one fried piece..One small bowl salad and pickle or 7 persons? And my father asked for salad and the guy's reply was "kshopikathae iriku,,tharam'The fried piece off all the biriyanis were bone pieces which we don't add in biriyani.. The made was over fired outside ,vut raw inside.. There were clearly blood waste inside the chicken. I have pics and video. And both the fry and biriyani chicken was not cooked property and need to chew for a long time. I have noticed there were leftover in most plate ,especially the chicken.
The price for one biriyani was 210 rs. The price was ok only for the atmosphere but not all worthy a penny for our food experience.
We were going through some personal stuffs in our family and that time we didn't want to create an issue there regarding the...

Read moreToday, my wife and I decided to visit Rahat in Kollam, Kerala, for a takeaway lunch. Our time in Northern Kerala had accustomed us to the exceptional non-veg cuisine and hospitality typically offered by Muslim hotel establishments. These places have a reputation for welcoming guests with open arms, ensuring a memorable customer experience, whether dining in or ordering out.
However, our experience at Rahat deviated drastically from our expectations. Upon arrival, the attitude from the security personnel at the entrance was far from welcoming. We were greeted not with a warm smile but with a gesture that felt dismissive, as the security guard used an inappropriate signal (snapped fingers to address us like one would do to get dogs attention usually) to direct us to the parking area. This initial encounter set a tone of unwelcome right from the start.
Choosing to overlook this initial discomfort, we proceeded to place our order at the reception. The service there mirrored our initial reception - lacking in warmth and hospitality. The 2 young lady staffs with dead-pan face seemed disinterested in serving us, adding to the feeling of being unwelcome. They looked like they have no clue how to interact with their customers.
Despite these setbacks, the food we took home was a saving grace. The Bellary Beef Rice, in particular, was delightful and lived up its reputation.
In reflection, this experience suggests a disconnect between the renowned hospitality of Northern Kerala and the service encountered at this Southern Kerala hotel. It serves as a reminder that every interaction counts towards the overall customer experience.
