This is on of the very famous, oldest and authentic biriyani shops in Mattancherry, Cochin. This is also know as Choice Biriyani house and Haneefikkante Irachi Chor Kada. But if you are coming here for the first and using google map for navigation, you have to search as Hotel Nooriya. It is a very small restaurant with a minimal ambience and there is only 20 to 35 seats here. If you want to have the food without rush, just reach there by 11.30 or 12.00, after that there will be a huge rush and all these items are very fast moving, which will be almost finished by 2.30 or 3.00. A huge amount of items will go as parcel. Mostly irachi chor is the first item which will become out of stock by 1.00 or 1.30. Coming to the menu there is no big menus, there are only three items here which are Chicken biriyani, Beef biriyani and Irachi chor. Chicken biriyani here is prepared using long grain rice and shallow fried chicken which has adequate amount of masala in it is superb, chicken is very soft and masala is of great flavour all together makes the biriyani a perfect blend. Moving on the Beef biriyani it moves to another level with a soft and succulent medium pieces of beef in which some of them will have bones. Well prepared masala and small khaima rice adds up superb fragrance and makes it so much delicious and will remind you a traditional kerala kalyana biriyani. When beef is prepared along with bones it becomes more tastier. The beef here is very succulent and will melt in your mouth very easily and so delicious. Beef biriyani here is one of the best in town. The star and the most selling item here is Irachi chor which is prepared with normal white and succulent pieces of beef. In case of irachi chor, both rice and meat are mixed and prepared together, so the flavour of beef will be completed dig into the rice and gives it a unique flavour which is a real treat to our taste buds. As i said before the beef in this one also is so soft and will melt in your mouth. All the three items are accompanied by a tamarind and dates based pickle and salad. Another thing which keeps this hotel close to the people is their pricing. Chicken Biriyani-100, Beef Biriyani -90 and Irachi chor - 60 without any compromise in quantity and taste. An old traditional type of restaurant, who serves authentic Cochin biriyani and irachi choru. It’s a small dining space very crowded and busy space. The quality of food they serve is promising. It’s a must try item from Fort kochi. This restaurant works with a limited time frame. So reach on time to taste it. Tried the beef biriyani & irachi chor. Both were too good. The rice had beef fat flavoured to the max and was exquisite. The meat was succulent and superb. The salad and puli inji that comes with it takes it to another level. UPI payments accepted, no card payments. Will be crowded and probably have to adjust and sit with the crowd there. Bikes can be parked, the car parking is very difficult and not recommended. The customer service is lovely and they keep refilling the salad and inji. Hot water is available at every table and there's also a cool drinks fridge. Highly recommended to come and try it...
