During our stay in Kochi, we visited Urban Paratha in Vytilla multiple times. Being North Indians, we found the food quite to our liking. Specifically, we enjoyed the Jal Jeera, Egg Noodles, Veg Manchurian, and the Kiwi Mojito. The restaurant provided a cozy dining environment, and the service was satisfactory. Although there were occasional delays during busy hours, the staff remained courteous and attentive.
One aspect we appreciated was the consistency in the taste and quality of the food across our visits. Each dish maintained its delicious flavor, ensuring a satisfying dining experience every time. The portions were generous, offering good value for money. The ambiance of the restaurant was simple yet welcoming, making it a comfortable spot to enjoy a meal with family or friends. The seating arrangements were comfortable, and the cleanliness of the establishment was commendable.
While Urban Paratha in Vytilla may not offer an extensive menu, the dishes they do serve are executed well, catering to the taste preferences of North Indian cuisine enthusiasts. The flavors were authentic, and the ingredients seemed fresh.
Overall, Urban Paratha in Vytilla is a reliable choice for those craving North Indian flavors in Kochi. Despite minor shortcomings in service speed during peak times, the overall dining experience was enjoyable, and we would recommend it to others looking for a satisfying meal at a...
Read moreReally good place to try out North Indian food in Kochi, both vegetarian and non- vegetarian options available. Went in the afternoon to grab lunch on a Sunday and although the place wasn't crowded while we reached all tables got filled up in another half hour or so. We ordered the Paneer tikka as a starter, which was okayish for me but my friend who has better knowledge of the North Indian cuisine really liked it. For main course we ordered the Murgh makhni and butter naan, rotti and lacha paratha as bread options. The curry was delicious with enough bite sized chicken pieces. The waiter suggested half portion would be enough for two and it was more than enough. And as for beverages we ordered lassis, the mango lassi was to die for. Definitely the best lassi I've had in Kochi, in fact the main motto behind going there for me personally was to try out their lassi as I had heard about it before. Although the waiters were welcoming and courteous the few hiccups we had included the waiter taking away the starter plate which we hadn't finished without asking us and although I had asked to bring the beverages after the main course it was served together. The pricing is also good for the portion size they serve. We spent around 400 per person. Would definitely visit again. The parking space is also spacious. Would be a nice idea to consider reserving in advance...
Read moreLast week, I had visited this place for dinner with my wife. I am international travel and food writer, and wellness consultant of repute based in Mumbai. Everything seemed fine, the service was great. The food arrived. 1 Aloo paratha, 1 lacha paratha, 1 paneer tikka and 1 Aloo Gobi. The parathas were fine. But the paneer was too dry and not marinated. And the aloo Gobi hardly had any Gobi.
Now the worst part. As we were leaving the place itself my wife was complaining of stomach pains. After reaching home she was crying all night, and vomiting many times. I guess it was the pre independence ka paneer that did it. This has never happened before. We eat out often.
I discovered that getting hold of good paneer in a restaurant serving non-veg in Kochi is a pipedream. Whereas it is not so in Mumbai. Urban Tadka serves great paneer. So do many others.
So, this is how I had the scare of my life, thanks to Urban Paratha. Deliver quality and demand your price. Even you Gulab Jamun has nothing to write home about. Just a small strand of Saffron would have made a heaven of a difference. But then it depends on the agenda. What is the ulterior motive? Build a reputation for quality, or just look at ways of making more money. Otherwise, it is quite a price conscious place. But then, dil maangey more. So...
